Ongoing searches in the 45 day window, again

I can't believe what I've been throwing back lately. About to release Edisto Island 8/24/08.

In the last two days, I've released:

Atrium Resort (Va Beach?) 8/15/08
Barrier Island Station, Duck 8/23/08
Southwind II, Hilton Head 8/09/08
Wyndham Bay Voyage Inn, Newport 8/29/08 (this one hurt; Ang it was only a 1 bedroom)
Villas of Ocean Pines, 8/29/08 (3 Bedroom)
Waipani Resort, Myrtle Beach, 7/26/08
Wyndham Westwinds, Myrtle Beach, 8/22/08
Beach House Golf and Racquet Club, Myrtle Beach, 7/19/08
Island Links, Hilton Head, 7/20/08

The irony is that I really needed a 7/19 week. Until last night, when a friend asked me to dogsit that week. At her beachhouse

So now I may hold out for something great for the end of August w/DS. Am lamenting the Westwinds MB week, though i wasn't ready to commit to air. But as I keep saying, get those ongoing searches in, the 45 day window is alive and very well...

I agree, this year in particular, you just may get what you want by putting in that request. I have seen just about everything, and everything showing up. Sing of the times, for sure.

I feel your pain. What's interesting, is that the things I'm getting matched to aren't showing up in online inventory, but there is a flurry of matches to ongoing searches as the checkin gets closer... that's how Pat missed the Bermuda week I released, it never made it back into inventory, but likely just went to the next person in line, who probably wasn't stupid enough to throw it back

Avery, I really don't understand what you are doing here? Don't you have to pay a fee each time you request an exchange or do you get it back when you release it? What is the purpose of requesting it in the first place? I guess, I'll never understand this exchanging game as we seldom have deposits. I am asking this as there must be other newbies reading this forum who do not understand this either. I am not a newbie since we own timeshares since 1983 but we have almost always used them plus I have never done it online yet. It seems a lot of work but the hunt must make it worthwhile to some.

I know I am asking a dumb question for most of you but I am doing it in behalf of other timeshare owner who are also may be in the dark. I am sure there are lots of them. Can you exlain it a little further, please.

RCI, or rather Wyndham, called me out of the blue the other day and asked me if I wanted to deposit two of our resorts and I said no but they made me very happy with something else. I had a wonderful guide and wished I had asked her name but I was just too shocked.

Because of the limitations in the RCI system, and risk of losing my place in line if I modify a search, I end up with a broader search than I would like. I don't pay to throw things back if they aren't confirmed.

I thought that modifying an ongoing search didn't change your place in line? (Edit - I saw a thread where this is being discussed --> http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...ace-queue.html)

Just how broad is your search?

East Coast Maine to Georgia. but there are a bunch of places in there I don't want, but not few enough to narrow it to two smaller searches. Plus I am going to be resort-picky in the areas I'm looking at. I could do it by resort code, but I have had problems accessing my account online when I've added specific resorts. Besides, this is entertaining and informative
