  • RCI Community- Question for Bootleg

    Hi Bootleg;

Are the RCI communuty Journals which are being transferred to IGOUGO going to be linked to the RCI resorts as they are currently? I find this to be the best feature of the journals because when I look at a possible trade on line with RCI I can check the reviews at the same time before confirming.

Please let us know how this will work once the RCI community goes down.

I'll get back to you after I have checked this, Larry!

Bootleg, where are the A-I fees going to be posted? They were also on the RCI community forum. I have never used it otherwise and when I tried to log in at http://www.igougo.com/ to transfer, it wouldn't let me. Is it because I had nothing to transfer?

I asked these questions before but nobody replied.

Having only looked at the RCI Community a couple of times I don't know what was specifically there, but in answer to where the all inclusive prices can be found, they are listed under the resort in additional information or urgent information.
i.e. for Velas Vallarta the following is in Urgent Information:

          ALL INCLUSIVE FEES FOR STUDIO AND 1 BEDROOM UNITS ARE CHARGED FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO ADULTS; FOR TWO BDRM UNITS A MINUMUM OF FOUR ADULTS. MINIMUM 7 NTS FOR WEEKS WITHRATES OF US$200 AND US$285. US$180 WKS 1-13,16-17,46-47 06;1-12,15-17,46-47 07; 1-10,13-17,47-48 08. US$165 WKS 18-45,48-50 06,07;18-46,49-50 08. US$200 WKS 14-15 06;13-14 07;11-12 08. US$285 WKS 51-52 06,07,08.; US$60 PER CHILD 2-12 YRS.

I probably should know this, but I'm still confused. Are the "mandatory AI" fees per person, or per unit, based on the minimum number of people the unit holds?
            Thanks.

Actually, most descriptions are a little clearer than this one! I would guess that it's per person, per week given the language at the end NO MATTER HOW MANY ADULTS AND CHILDREN ARE TRAVELLING. ALL INCLUSIVE FEES FOR STUDIO AND 1 BEDROOM UNITS ARE CHARGED FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO ADULTS; FOR TWO BDRM UNITS A MINUMUM OF FOUR ADULTS; AND FOR THREE BEDROOM UNITS SIX ADULTS.

I wouldn't confirm without checking with the resort and/or RCI, not sure which resort this is. Also note that it's a "no kids" resort as of Sept. 1st.

And the "AI" fee is for the WEEK, not per night, right?
Thanks for your help on this!

I am only GUESSING it's per week based on the numbers. Good deal weekly, but on a daily basis it'd be a little too high to make sense. Still, better check. What resort is it?

Most I've seen have been per person, per day, with the charge applying to the size of unit, not necessarily number of persons in it. So, for a one bedroom, sleeps 4, you could get charged for 4 people while only 2 are there.

DEFINITELY PROCEED CAREFULLY AND GET IT IN WRITING!

                      Thank you.
It is kind of expensive per person/per day.
My husband doesn't drink anymore & I drink (alcohol) very little, and we don't really eat all day long. I think we could probably eat for less per day in Mexico. It seems like so many of the nice ones in Mexico are "AI".
Oh well, there are plenty of other places to go. Mexico was just close.
                      Thanks again!

Is there a way to search on-line for non-AI resorts in Mexico, or do I have to go through them one-by-one?

Seems to me there was Cancun: No all-inclusive and there might be just Mexico: No AI.

The online search may be able to filter them out?

If you have the directory, you can skim thru pretty quickly as I think AI is in the FEES area.

The non-all inclusive resorts in Mexico are in higher demand than those with mandatory AI, and recently that trend seems to be increasing even more. In Cancun, with well over 100 restaurants and cheap transportation, not many want to stay at the resort all week. I prefer going downtown or the shopping plazas for dinner and a little walk afterwards for shopping or just the exercise. A-I is like being restricted to one or a few restaurants and the temptation to overeat and overdrink is there (particularly when the A-I charge is excessive).
