I had a unit on hold briefly and of course my credit card was charged. The message I got when I released the hold was that a refund would be issued in the same manner as the charge was made. So, how long does that typically take?

Originally posted by Glitter BrunelloI would be shocked if they actually do that. Check your account, I bet you have a credit in the amount of the exchange fee... If yes, you will need to call to request the refund. If they really did it the way they said they would, I don't have an answer about timing, sorry.Luanne

When I began using RCI points I was told we had a 'credit' of about $720 because we converted a RCI weeks contract to Points. The weeks had prepaid RCI membership to the end of the contract. The points contract only allowed it to be paid 5 years out. But the $720 credit could only be used sometimes.
Then I made a series of holds & reservations for two months next summer. Whenever I found what I wanted, RCI was closed. So I would call the next day to ask for the credit to be used for the exchange fee ($124) and to reverse the credit card charge.
I think I saw $124 credited to our credit card once.
It is really hard to match the charges on the credit card to the actual exchanges.
Does anyone know if RCI will send a print out of the accounting? My Website Link Oked by BF

After you release the hold, you need to go to your My Account page, where it shows your ongoing searches. You will probably have an ongoing search for whatever you used to search for the exchange you had on hold. You need to cancel that ongoing search, and part of the cancellation asks if you want your $164 refunded...to which you answer yes, of course. Then it takes a couple of days to get credited to your card.

I just got off the phone with RCI. They asked if I had an on-going search and I said no. They said, but you do, and I said yes, but that's been going on for awhile AND I was charged for it separately. The guide agreed. He then told me my credit card HAD been credited on 9/4, but it takes awhile for it to show up on my credit card account. I just love how the charge will show up immediately, but the credit takes forever.Luanne

Originally posted by wackymotherOkay, that's true. But I think you shouldn't have to pay the exchange fee until you confirm--you should be able to put it on hold for free or for a nominal fee, not the whole $164 kit-and-kaboodle.Luanne
