  • Placing hold resort on searching week

Why does RCI keep placing resorts on hold that I have not ask for in my on going search. Today I released another resort (4th time in 2 weeks) that they were holding for me - it was not on my list of resorts. They are only making my week - weaker in trade value each time I release a resort that I do not want.

Releasing a week on hold doesn't affect your trade power in any way, as far as I know.

It is not supposed to affect it. But you never know with RCI.

Check to see if you have a regional search in addition to the resort-specific search. The resort-specific search is not considered a sub-set of the regional search, they are separate searches.

I have also experienced getting matched for prior ongoing searches after modifying them currently, I've had to reset the search to correct for that.

I have not experienced decreased trade power by releasing held weeks, and I do quite a bit of that because of the way I set my searches up (usually just regional).

If and when I have had trade power fluctuations it usually returns to normal....so there really is not much to worry about especially if you are releasing them on-line. When you confirm with a VC and then cancel before the 24 hours is when you need to worry. I have run into problems in the past with that.

Thanks for the replies.... I know that in the past when I talked with a VC he told me that when I keep releasing units that are on hold I am reducing the trading power of my deposited unit.... This is why I am frustrated that they would put a hold on a unit that is not on my list and I do not have in an area search.

The VC was either mistaken or dishonest---possibly because he wanted "credit" for booking you into an exchange.

I'd call them and ask them to tell you what they think you are searching for. Good chance this will isolate the erroneous search, which must still be there if this keeps happening to you, and you can ask/insist that they remove it.

Like Glitter, it has also happened to me that a search has hung onto old parameters, after I have changed them online, and they are not visible to me - and I've dealt with this successfully by phone.
