In looking at the RCI rentals on Snap Travel for mid-August and mid-November, I was not surprised to see Dominican Republic, and not too surprised to see overbuilt Sint Martin, but I was surprised to see hard to get St. John and St. Lucia. While this is not the top season, it is a time that I am sure there is more exchange demand for those hard to get places than there is supply. And if they are on Snap Travel for around $700, they can probably be had on SkyAuction for a fraction of that.

An exchanger with a $450 m/f pays that plus $89 dues and $179 exchange fee or $718.

These are not January weeks on Cape Cod. This sort of cutthroat competition that is undermining exchanging, and using exchangers own deposits to do it with, is why the lawsuits must succeed if the ownership / exchange model of timesharing is to survive.

Well I looked on Sky Auction and guess what I Found

In the ready set go. Which is an RCI redirect. If it is honest someone must of exchanged for a cruise and RCI is attempting to offset the cost.

If they exchanged for a cruise, RCI has absolutely no need to offset the cost because the cash RCI is getting is already more than the same cruise will cost from a cruise consolidator. Cendant is big enough that I am sure it gets as good a wholesale price as the cruise consolidator, so the cash portion alone has already given them more profit than some of their competitors even if they did nothing with the week.
