RCI, is it possible they are really going to do it?

First, usually, the Endless Vacations magazine arrives and meets the trash on the same day, unread. But for some reason, I skimmed the pages, and in near the back was a special page about the new enhanced RCI.....flashback? I ask....ready to toss it without reading, something catches my eye....

....the new feature will include the ability to see all matches on an exchange search for 2 years......

I think I am hallucinating....

Usually the term ''enhancement'' is used in the business world to announce something that screws the consumer. It is a well known and dreaded term for frequent flyers. In this case, being able to see more than 10 weeks would be good. I still have my last RCI deposit to get rid of before I exit. However, one wonders what big negative is likely to be coupled with it.

They mean point side? Currently, I thought you can search week in weeek side to more than that, as to how many resort will deposit more than that is another story.


Point side you ca not ask your resort more than 13 month, so they must mean point side to week side?

I saw it too! They said Weeks by the end of the year and Points early next year. I saw it just the way Katie did--by looking through the magazine just before tossing it...I couldn't believe it either. Gosh, I'll really miss those categories like EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI MOST AVAILABLE NO NYC and INLAND EAST COAST NO FURNISHINGS MADE AFTER 1956.

You are correct as that is exactly what I saw, weeks first then points early next year.

Maybe I'm just an optimist or perhaps just gullible but I do want to believe that this will be a really good upgrade to the RCI on line exchange system.

I'm reminded of all the website upgrades promised by SFX a few years ago, that never materialized. And they are a better run company than RCI - my hopes are certainly not "üp" for this one.

Yes, we are very familiar with how enhancements usually are aimed at the very heart of customers....we sure do have enough experience with RCI's previous enhancements that we know we won't have anything but a rough time when they try to get this new feature up and running. Already I am seeing weird things going on in our account.....their IT team still cannot make a transition without major glitches....I dare RCI to have this new feature soon....no I double dare them....but then again, it will mean major headaches while the IT team has to figure out what they screwed up in the process.

and it looks like they just put hours on my morning search time.

Instead of running 20 consequetive weeks I am now looking at one month at a time. Each page can only show a maximum of 25 matches...

I just started so I'll let you know if there are any benefits but so far it doesn't look good for people like me.

Perhaps that's just fine with Rent Condos Instead.

With the exchange week I have, I am seeing resorts that I have never been able to see before, like Hawaii and S Cal. that are outside the 45 day last call period.

I do like the ease of use of this.

I think it works better for spot checks Mike.... I haven't even gotten thru 6 pages of July 2010...

I will just have to play with it until I find the way that works easiest for my purposes...
