    I like it!

I like it, but I'm one of those people who never really knows where I want to go....since overall I want to go everywhere. I usually pick dates I want to travel, and then narrow down from there where I can get an exchange and if I want to go there. This works great for me! But I can see why many would want to be able to search the old way, hopefully they will bring that back for you!

I think RCI plans to allow you to buy what your week sees....this is just a step toward exchange plus cash....I have seen several weeks one with an okay trader and one with a very good trader...neither will let me confirm...it shows available, but when I go to hold/confirm I get told it is taken....so either RCI is just still implementing their strategy, or they have once again screwed up royally....which one of these is your conclusion.

Clearing cookies, signing off and on does not make the units confirmable here.

Today I can't get any search results. It works til that page, and then quits.

If they get it working right, it really has some great potential, especially for less-experienced, less-informed folks.

As an example, there is a resort we like that has 24 1-bdrm units and 2 Penthouse 2-bdrm units. We always wanted one of those.

In one step I can see that resort has 32 units available to us, but never a 2-bdrm.

Or, I put in Little Gull. It had 10 units available, but never anything larger than a 2-bedroom.

Even with Ole POC, in less than a minute I can see that we have one opportunity to go to Captiva, 9 to go to Sanibel, 32 to go to Bonita Beach, 45 to go to Engelwood, 106 to go to Marco & 240 to go to Ft. Myers Beach.

                  Another approach...

It is much prefered if we could target our loctions and timeframes before we are given the search results.

The way things stand now it is taking over 30 minutes to determine that there is NOTHING available for my area and dates. I much prefer to be disappointed immediately.

That's certainly one approach. Here's another:

                  Dear RCI:

Your ongoing efforts to advance the education of fourth graders in the Carmel, Indiana school system by having the RCI web site integrated directly into their "Intro to Computers" class is certainly to be commended for both its innovation and its demonstration of community spirit and involvement. After all, our children are our future.

That said, however, it appears that the RCI web site seems to be experiencing even more technical difficulties than usual since the students have apparently begun doing their RCI web site homework assignments after hours and, quite obviously, without adequate adult supervision.

Please consider confining the schoolchildrens' RCI web site computer exercises to supervised, in-classroom sessions, conducted only during normal school hours. Implementing this change may help to decelerate the continual (and seemingly endless) deterioration of the quality of RCI "services", as well as enable the students to allocate sufficient time to other subjects of importance during their limited home study time.

Thank you for your interest in this matter of mutual concern.

I have no clue what they have done, but I last night had two units said were available on my exchanges and when I tried to book, said could not call RCI agent. So at this point I can't book anything....I sure am hoping this is all technical difficulties.

I actually liked the old system better ( I am a weeks member), but I am willing to work with the new one, if it works and such. It is more time consuming but does have potential I think...if it works and lets you book anything LOL.

Oh I did all that cookie, cahche clearing, reloading etc.....no difference....plus never had to do that before in many years of booking online....or searching online....

Plus what about the one plus ones or bonus weeks, if they were revamping the whole site why not make those available to do online as well. For some of us the phone call is not very convenient.

It sure is a mess right now.....

The new site is somewhat similar to the travel agent site that RCI provides for travel agents. On that one, it shows units automatically when you click on the resort. That one actually functions quicker and a bit better than the regular member RCI site. What a surprise

                        Holy mollee.....I had no idea.

I just got back tonight and yuk.

                        This is my favorite:

"The vacation unit you chose is no longer available. Please choose another week and try again."

Wow I hope everyone recorded and printed out all of their exchanges.....most of mine are screwed up with the wrong dates and no available print confirmation.

Something very strange is happening - JLB and I seem to agree on a subject. We must make sure that doesn't happen again.
I agree with all the points Jim made about being able to see a wider picture of availability at resorts, and over wider timescales. What I don't understand is why RCI had to throw the baby out with the bathwater and remove the old search method. I don't believe it would be too difficult to leave both options available.

I have found that as time goes on, as the passion of the moment and the penchant to overract diminshes, there is normally more in agreement than not. The way I normally say it is, time is the best friend of the truth.

Actually we both agree about beggars badgering you on the street for handouts, also, but doesn't change history, does it?

Also, we have successfully continued the program of recycling aluminum cans. On top of that, those who objected to that are also finding themselves with a president they highly object to. So . . . stuff happens.

                              The times they are a-changin.

That was my point exactly, that they did not have to throw out the tried and true in order to force folks to use the untried and untrue.

Am I wrong, or has the untried/untrue not been available as an option for some time? I recall seeing something to click on to take you a different route for the past few months

Not that it matters, but my 2009 exchanges show the wrong date, both showing 1/1/09. A Guide, with great resignation in her voice, said the right dates are still on them.

My 2010 exchange shows the right date 1/2/2010.
