    My Dates Are Wrong Too!

I have 6 week confirmed. The dates are wrong on 5 of them. They were correct on Monday, Nov 10, but wrong on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12. RCI said they have the correct dates on their computer. I hope I still have the 4 units for Maui in Jan. 2009.

The old search method required 2 steps in my daily search: Select the deposit to search on, and then, enter the Area, Subarea and dates.

Now it takes four steps: Select the deposit, Select the Area, Select the Subarea, Select the month.

&, I cannot enter my own search dates . . . it has to be a specific month.

Unless I want to save all the resort IDs in the Subarea and enter them in the Resort ID search area, where you can name your own dates.

          This is my favorite:

"The vacation unit you chose is no longer available. Please choose another week and try again."
That's what I got when I found a late Fall Allen House week with the middling trader that is the last week I will ever give RCI. It would have been a nice one to go out on.

I really like the new search feature, as I tend to look for broader periods and hated being confined to 10 weeks. But DAE has always let me see everything, anyway. This is one thing RCI has finally gotten right. But I would think that having an option early in the process for narrower searches for those who want them would help. Now, if they would just stop their rental malpractices, I might just go back to using them.

No one has said it in so many words, but the subtle statements of the new system are pretty clever.

It seems to be saying, "Who else gives you 162000 choices?" and answering those who say RCI never has anything or that Weeks is dead and gone, an archaic dinosaur.

Is it the only exchange company that shows how many total choices you have?

Choices only matter if you can actually hold or confirm one of them....as of yet, any time I test that feature, I get told that the week is no longer available....what good is a system that is not updating itself instanteously....I don't want to wait and wait for their disgustingly slow search feature to show me results that in essence are of NO USE because they have "disappeared" .... a system that has outdated results is a total waste of my time.....and yet again....why am I surprised...this is RCI after all...the only company that reinvents ways to piss off their customers.

                  I'm doing surprisingly well...

Since the new system came into being I have been able to get a unit at Grand Pacific Palisades for late winter 2010 and a week at Pacific Shores for university reading week 2009 with two very dog traders. I am surprised and happy so far!

Although we appreciate that your search engine has undergone improvements, we do not care if there are 160,417 units available for exchange over a two year period worldwide against our deposited week. It is much prefered if we could target our loctions and timeframes before we are given the search results.

The way things stand now it is taking over 30 minutes to determine that there is NOTHING available for my area and dates. I much prefer to be disappointed immediately.

Oh Really? That was the entire point of my initial post! How valued is my deposit? 162k units available. Of which maybe FIVE might be where I want to go and when.

They have certainly turned me off. I have tried to make this work for me. It just takes forever.

People complain about the old 10 week search window. 10 weeks almost exactly covers primetime summer. I could run simultaneous 2009 and 2010 summer searches a region at a time and get the goods quickly.

Now with one month at a time/per region I get frustrated with it quickly.

Maybe a nice prescription is in order. Some prozac in my coffee.

FWIW I see the value to the individual looking for one unit, in a certain area and timeframe. For that person this is an improvement. It is more intuitive.

For the slash and grabber like me? This stinks.

First, I haven't had any problems Searching, Holding, or Confirming.

Maybe you can upgrade to WIN98 and whatever old version of IE I have.

Sure, no debating that it would be nice to have left the old 10-week window search method available, as an option.

But, now when I see there is nothing we want in SW FL in January, I can bump back a couple of screens and see where is available in January.

Today there was a 2 bedroom at Scottsdale Camelback, which would be nice.

Under the old system there would be no way to know that was there. I forgot to look at Hawaii this morning, but have been.

Our neutered good trader is still getting 8/6 2-bdrms at Fairham Nashville for Girls Week Out, so it is not totally worthless. Quirky that it should be able to get that when it can't get even the crappiest place in SW FL.

Oh yeah, SOCAL Coastal has been very available, as has San Fran. Maybe it's time for another NFL junket.

I just realized that the old 10-week drop down system IS still available. If you click on link in the blue box on the right side of the page that says:

"Can’t find the exchange you’re looking for?
An Ongoing Search saves you time by continuously searching for RCI exchange options on your behalf.

                            Ongoing Search"

it will pull up the old search window.
