But, isn't the frustration just as great, or greater, when you whittle down the 162000 to 2, the same 2 you see every morning, and that you would never go to if they paid you?

Ah, yes, the thrill of the search . . . I must focus on the thrill of the search.

    Happy Turkey Day, y'all.

      By resort:

      The OLs: 883
      Silver Lake: 719
      Parkway: 565

Wow, no Vistanas? None?! Hasn't that gotta be a glitch?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot . . . someone asked what I thought of the new search engine. Along with all the superlative compliments, I mentioned that it would be nice to be able to still search the old way, too . . . to simplify things for those of us who know exactly what, where, and when.

Maybe that will get passed along.

Thanks and I sure hope so. Just being able to put in a 10 week search window would be helpful. This clicking each month is very time consuming.

The clicking month by month drives me batty! I really want that ten week search window back as well as the ability to do two separate searches (time frame and location areas) at a time.

I take back my comments! We can search by dates -- even more than the 10 week window! I don't know why I never noticed it until now. As long as you have selected a deposited week, on any of the search pages (even if you have narrowed down the search a bit by the left menu bar), scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see the Search For Exchange Opportunities box. You can use keywords such as part of a resort name, resort ID or location, then pick your date range! And it isn't be limited to a mere 10 week period -- I just tried searching with a one-year period and it worked! You don't even need to add a date range if you are looking for one resort or a group of resorts with a common word in the name -- then you can see all available dates for those resorts. Okay, this is such a great addition that I'm willing to put up with the other annoying things about the new search system (and wait for more improvements such as faster page movements)! As DH often says to me "You wronged me, didn't you?" -- I am sorry I was too quick to get mad at RCI when I failed to look at the search pages in their entirety.

Holy smokes! You're right, you have to whuittle down the selection first but you can search a specific timeframe!

                  Cool! One down.

Here's another one . . . Is anyone seeing any Nightly Rentals? It is in the same area as EVs, LCs & cruises. I have selected some areas and times when there likely should be some, and there aren't any.

If you play around with it, you will find that the search method at the bottom of the page is not reliable.

I put in Florida Southern Gulf Coast for 12/1/09 - 5/1/10 and it shwed 2 resorts, one of which is not in that Subregion.

Using the other (main) method, Florida Southern Gulf Coast showed many units and resorts available just in Dec. 2009.

Well I'm pretty happy with it. The other way is insurmountable amounts of data. This at least cuts some of the search time. I owe Amy a drink.

Either you did not understand what I said or you are not getting the same incorrect result.

Perhaps I need to try it again.

Using the new method, for December, 2009:

                          Florida>Southern Gulf Coast>December 2009>19 Resorts (44 available units)
Using the method at the bottom of the page:

Florida Southern Gulf Coast 12/1/09-12/31/09>21 Resorts (58 available units)

The difference is that the bottom of the page shows resorts that are not in that Subregion.

In any event, neither of them show squat for January, 2010. The bottom of the page only shows 2 resorts, one of them at Treasure Island, way up north.

For my purposes this works better than fine. If I miss one or two things it really doesn't mean much in the scheme of things. Unless of course I'm on one of my missions....then I would be a very unhappy person if I missed because of search date paramaters.

Given what I saw this morning I don't think I was missing much. I actually think I saw more today than I have since this upgrade because it was in more manageable chunks. Still takes twice as long to do the searches but that a heck of a lot better than 6 times.

I'm glad I made your day! For my purpose I use particular city, state or resort names, and I don't end up missing anything (as opposed to "Florida Southern Gulf Coast" for example). A search for "San Diego" included Baja California area resorts (as well as the usual Carlsbad, Escondido, etc.), so I'm guessing for other particular city word searches the system will also expand the results to include nearby cities.

Actually, using "Florida Southern Gulf Coast" I am not missing anything. I am seeing all that is there, plus stuff from elsewhere.

That's not uncommon with RCI, that things get mixed up like that. Eventually the techies get it straightened out.

For whatever reason someone has decided to play around with the SubRegions in the new system, so it will take them while to figure out what goes where, as for members.
