  • RCI Points - can you sell them?

I recently phoned RCI to ask them if I booked a week using my RCI points, could I then rent that week out. The salesperson seemed vague with his answer but basically said that I can only rent it out at a price to cover the cost of my yearly maintenance fee's for my home resort. Is that a true statement??

With the limits to Points Partners (including the changes made last week) I also have more points with RCI than I can possibly use going into next year, approx 560,000. I went onto the TUG's website and individuals are offering their RCI Points for sale. Is this also an accepted practice? If it is legitimate does RCI just transfer the points between accounts?

I would ask RCI but they never seem very forthcoming with their answers, unless there is money in it for them!!

Page 16 of the RCI Points disclosure says this:

    i. Non-Commercial Use. Use of the Network
and/or RCI Points® by a guest or a Member may not
be for commercial purposes, including through
    auction, rental or sale.

Hi philsfan - So the members on the TUG's website that are selling their points, are doing so illegally. And then RCI still facilitate the transfer of those points between RCI member accounts?. Obviously RCI don't believe money has been passed between the 2 parties involved. Or they turn a blind eye to it??
I thought I had read on TUG's, or maybe it was another website, that the website would not allow illegal transactions to be done?? This was obviously to avoid legal action by the likes of RCI.

Officially speaking, you are not permitted to sell/rent your RCI Points, however there is no fee to transfer Points to another account. I've never attempted rent Points, but I don't see how RCI would know or why they would care if I did.

Nor can you exchange your Points for a timeshare unit and proceed to rent that unit. That's a big no, no, because it deprives RCI of the opportunity to rent the unit.

What you can do, is reserve your own deeded unit, according to the reservation rules of your resort, and rent it out. You own your deeded property, and you can do with it as you please.
