When are the DVC exchanges suppose to show up in RCI? I will not be able to see them because I am a week exchanger, but it is going to be interesting. I was tempted to buy into the PIC program with Wyhdam this week esp. with Wyhdams new timeshare opening at the National Harbor in Maryland this spring.

    Points are points

Unfortunately to get into PIC you MUST buy retail. The price difference with resale FSP points just doesn't make sense. Once the new resort opens the "old", resale (or not) points will reserve it just as well as retail ones. We've visited every new Wyndham we've wanted and only have 15+ tear old points to spend. Its a great part of the FSP system that points are points. When the DVC time hits RCI FSP Points will spend for those aswell (although most likely at extremely high values that may make it less than appealing, time will tell).

Honestly I haven't been following this DVC thing very closely. I am no fan of Orlando or the mouse.

My understanding is the contract takes effect as of today. I did search Jan thru May09 in RCI points and kept coming up with the same 23 resorts.

Maybe we should run a contest for the first one to spot a DVC in RCI as I certainly cannot be relied upon to look there everyday, particularly in RCI Points which limits you to a month at a time on-line searches.

I do think it wil be some time before we do spot one as I don't think everything has been made clear to the DVC owners.

I still have never seen WYN Old Town Alexandria in a timeframe that one would want to go there ( or even in the dead of winter)

Lawern I understand, however I had a 6 year old and plan to go there one more time. Staying on property would be great if available since we have never paid that price..... Being older it is now more affordable, but there is a limit. I see that Bonnet Creek showed up on my possibilities this morning, but it was for a Jan. 2009 checkin. I am not ready to go yet....

I looked for Bonnet Creek - is that only RCI?

TUG reported sighting this evening - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums

RCI point values were mentioned ("the 2 room was 94,500 points and the 1 rooms were in the 54,000 range") along with Animal Kingdom Villa availability

Katie - thanks for the post on DVC listings. I will probally not be able to exchange into DVC because I own a week exchange, but the thrill of the chase is still there! I am excited for those who can.

The DVC units are now showing up in RCI Weeks!

I booked a Beach Club unit last night about 9:30 pm. I also booked Animal Kingdom Villas! As far as I know, I might be the first person on TS4MS/TUG to get a DVC in RCI, or to get an Animal Kingdom exchange at all? Do I get a prize? (Oh yeah -- the prize is that I get to go to Disney! )

                  Some quick info:
The $95 fee is still in effect, for both Weeks and Points (no surprise!)
The inventory I can see in RCI Weeks appears to be completely different from what I can see in RCI Points. (Details are on the RCI ExOps Board.)
The RCI Points values are sky-high, especially for the two-bedrooms (up to 118,000 in summer)
                  No mention of 1-in4!

So, it appears that it may be a better value to use a week to exchange, opposed to points.......Are all gold crown weeks seeing DVC's? If not, does anyone know what will see DVC's?

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Angela, RCI cares a lot less about resort quality in evaluating a match---in particular, if RCI has an "upward" quality filter, it's a very weak one. This is one way in which RCI is very different from II, though there is a "downward" quality filter in RCI, just as there is in II.

In RCI, it's all about the supply/demand curve of the resort.

                        Judy,

If I may ask, what size and week unit are the animal kingdom exchange?
                        Was that in points?

                        Vincent.

I want to buy into RCI for the DVC tradings. I have seen some interesting properties on Ebay and they only require closing cost. One of them is a gold crown. How will I know what will see DVC? Not only that are all points = Does a point = a point no matter what resort it is from?

                          Thanks

You'd have to ask an owners at that resort, with the same or very similar week in season, to search for you. You won't know for sure until then.

In general, it looks like it requires a very strong week to see the Weeks inventory.

In Points, a point is a point---the big difference is MFs.

Personally, I'd be inclined to watch the sightings boards for a while to get a sense for what will and won't see them, and whether I needed to be in Points or could get by in Weeks.

                              Thanks for the insight

I will calm down and wait awhile and see what our next step will be. Thanks for the information on points was curious about that also.
