Per my PM, I have sent an email to the rep who helped straighten out my last switch. Hopefully she is still there.

Yeah, I too loved it when someone with a thick Irish brogue answered. If they closed it down it was probably because those Guides were too friendly and accomodating.
The gal that helped me straighten out my last bungled switch has agreed to help out here, so I'm looking for this to get resolved positively, if it can be.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

I have an update:
I got a call from JLB's contact at RCI. A very nice woman, very upbeat, positive and willing to help all she could. In the end I cancelled both exchanges, was totally happy in how the cancellation was handled, and she did a quick look-see and I can pull the Disney resorts I desired with the week I was worried about (I am holding off excxhanging, hoping for a 2 bed unit for the time frame we want). So I am very happy with the resolution of something that was totally my doing. THANK YOU JLB!
I did ask the lady about how the returned trade power works. While I didn't get an exact formula (nor was I expecting one but it would have been nice!), she said it is primarily driven by the original trade power the week had (which is mostly driven by deposit date and desirability of the week). It is lessend by how close to the exchange use date you cancel - the earlier you cancel, the better for returned trade power. The use date of the original week is not a factor. She indicated that the length of time the weeks was tied up with the now cancelled exchange isn't really a factor either.
It's a relief to me to have this done. Now I can stop torturing myself by looking at airfares - which did decrease to slightly below what I was looking at in the begiinning!
Thanks again to everyone who has helped me with the whole expereince. I learned alot!

You're welcome, and thanks.
Incidentally, as I was looking through old stuff for the II thread a little while ago I noticed that I had cancelled an II exchange. Here is the correspondence I had concerning it:
Dear Mr (Me)
Confirmations made through Interval International are final. However, we will
make an exception and when doing so, since the week is returned, it is only good for one year.
Sincerely
Interval International
MC/

Yeah, I'd still like to know the answer to that.

Guess that's why those close to me, and whom I do business with, are so stoop-shouldered and hunched over.
