New to RCI, some quick questions?

I had just recently purchased a timeshare with RCI last spring in 2008. I want to now use it in another foreign country such as Japan, this summer around june to july of 2009.

- What are some ways I can get the most out of my timeshare, as in money and quality of the hotel I want to stay at?

- On the RCI website, Can I just pick any hotel I want in Japan and use it as part of my time share?

No.

I have been in RCI Weeks for 20 years, and in Weeks you can only exchange for weeks that have been deposited by other members. There is no program for stays at hotels.

Maybe there is in Points. From the time GPN kicked off almost 10 years ago I have never looked into it.

Generally speaking, the more specific your request the less likely you are to be able to get. & the further out you make plans the better. Four months ahead of time is not very long. Fourteen to 24 months would be better.

Whatever you have, I suggest you enroll in RCI.com and do some investigating for yourself into what you can get with it.

I can't tell if you don't understand timesharing or if you are just using the wrong terminology. RCI coordinates exchanges by timeshare resorts owners into other timeshare resorts owners accomodations.

Not hotels.

So, do you mean timeshare resorts in other countries, or are you only interested in trying to stay in hotels?

I know it was your turn, but it occurs to me that you have it backwards.

Rather than pick a place you want to go and then see if you can, you should look at the places you can get when you want to go there, and pick from them.

OK. I know it's your turn, so I'm butting in again, but let me cut to the chase.

Let's say I want to go to Japan next June or July.

I go to my account online at RCI.com and select Exchange. Then I select the deposit I want to search with. That shows me I can go to 163000 exchanges with that deposit.

Then I select Rest of the World.

Then I select Japan, and it says there are 63 exchanges that my deposit can get.

It shows how many are available for each month; there are 9 for June and none for July.

When I open up June it shows what I can get. The nine units are at 5 different resorts. They look very nice, but I will admit they look hotel-like, although each is referred to as a resort, and the units are small, what is called studios and hotel units, for 2 people.

Studio/Hotel units Occ: Max 2/ Pri 2, have a full bath, two twin beds and Japanese sleeping mats.

Anyway, that's the way you can do it.
