Old news on the International Exchange Fees. They have been the same as domestic since at least January 1st. That announcement came out with the roll out of the new on-line search engine.

From an RCI letter dated Nov 19 2008:

      http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...rci-weeks.html

...we are revising our RCI Weeks exchange pricing effective for 2009. The new pricing structure offers a discount for all RCI.com transactions and the same exchange fee for domestic and international confirmations, eliminating the international premium and simplifying the booking process so members can embrace the growth in international exchange opportunities and availability throughout the world.

They should discount the EF for on-line exchanges. We are doing all the work for them and their exchange fees are the highest in the industry.

It may be old news, as I am an old news sorta person , so I searched the RCI board for a post before I posted.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see one.

RCI increased the EF to $189 if you exchange using a guide a little while ago. It stayed at $164 if you do it yourself online... a difference of $25.

Unless you are saying it's now $164-$25 = $139 for an online exchange???

I initiated an ongoing search online. I was looking for a specific resort with a start/end date spanning 2 check-in dates. I paid the $164.

When a match was found for one of my dates, I confirmed the exchange online and at that time the system prompted my to pay $25 more.

Now, I am paying $189 for doing everything myself.

At no time, have I spoken with a VC nor was a phone call left for me to call RCI - not even an e-mail.

Before I call RCI and get the 'usual' response, I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

Having done this same online search in the past, one of the weeks that I want would just get 'confirmed' automatically. This time the week was in a 'hold' staus and I had to confirm it myself.

                  Sheila,

                  to TS4Ms.

Interesting. I would say that the resort you were looking for had a 1-in-x restriction but those can't (or at least couldn't) be confirmed on-line at all.

I would definately call and contest the higher price that you were forced to pay. RCI gets enough of our money no need to give them more. At least you have the PDF with their prices that you can quote now.

I have heard from several people who have had the same problem of being charged the higher fees online. You certainly are not alone. The bugs in any new system..... sometimes I feel like a lab rat. Please let us know how you get it resolved.
