Laughable question, but have to ask: RCI ongoing search?

Has anyone had an ongoing search come up with a match lately (since the new improved search system has begun)?

I did, but I had to throw it back since it really didn't match what I needed. But, that was my fault not RCI's. I'm looking for a week in Santa Fe over Thanksgiving and RCI matched to the date we'd be leaving, but to be fair, that was included in the date range I gave them.

The best way to get what you can't get with a manual search is an onging search, and vice versa.

We got Wyndham Ocean Blvd in N Myrtle Beach for this June, with ongoing searches. RCI called to let us know last summer - 2 units matched with a bulk spacebanking.

My inlaws had an ongoing search for Wyndham Bonnet Creek (and DVCs) for their daughter's upcoming autumn trip. RCI confirmed their trade for Wyn BC a week or two ago.

It still seems to be working for us, just as it has in the past. I like online hunting but we still place ongoing searches for whatever we're certain we'd want.

It is much easier to not get what you are looking for with an ongoing search than with manual searches.

I found it by going online. But when I have an ongoing search I pretty much check daily.

I did not receive a call. When you check your account, and then vacation plans, it will tell you that you have a unit on hold. Also, when you click on Exchange a Unit, that week will no longer appear to be selected.

I can't believe I'm asking this, but maybe after being bombarded with it so many times, like a punchdrunk boxer. . .

. . . can I use on ongoing search to find an exchange to go on either (but not both) side of a confirmed exchange (need 12/26/09 or 1/9/10), &

. . . can my approval of a match be required, so that I don't just log in some day and see we got Slimey Slough, &

. . . anyone have any problem with doing manual searches with a week committed to an ongoing search.

a: I don't think you can enter a non-contiguous time frame
b: I *think* so, if you are searching for an area, not specific resorts. I've only obtained a unit through an ongoing search once or twice, so I don't know for sure.
c: No. My only deposit is performing an ongoing search, and I use it for manual searches many times each day.

Yes, you may request searches for different check-in dates for the same or different locations. Call on the phone and ask for a search for resorts x, y and z for check-in date 1, then add a search to the same deposited week for resorts x, y and z for check-in date 2. Both II and RCI allow this. But II lets you do this (and edit it) online or by phone. RCI only lets you do this (and edit it) by phone.

Search requests that seek specific resorts are automatically confirmed. RCI used to permit approval first confirmations on general region searches - don't know firsthand if they still do or not.

As Brian said, others have also verified that they were able to search manually online with a week that's already committed to an ongoing search.

One caveat to the ongoing search question: if you use the deposit to put something on hold (for example, in preparation for calling to "switch" a confirmation to a "better" week) the original ongoing search is cancelled, and has to be re-entered. This means you lose your place "in line" to the extent that any such place exists.
