  • RCI points/ongoing searches and the do not call list

I discovered today that if you start an ongoing search using your points account there is no way to tell if something matched and was placed on hold for you. I always thought that if you go to the My Account tab it would show up there so that you could accept or decline it. Not true. I guess I should have known since there is no way to start the search online from the points side, you have to call to do that.

If you are on the 'do not call' list, the only way to determine if something is on hold for you is to call RCI to find out. I only found out by accident when I called to cancel the search and was told there was a unit on hold for me.

    OK. I'll be the one.

What's the "do not call list?"

We have Vonage for our home phone service. When we moved to AZ from NJ we were able to keep our number. Our family could still reach us using a local number so we thought it was a great idea. The problem is that RCI's auto-dialler doesn't look at your address before it calls, it assumes everyone with an east coast area code is actually on the east coast. After 6 months of 6:30 am phone calls from RCI asking if I wanted to deposit next year's week which was probably already deposited anyway, I got my account flagged as 'do not call'. We ended up changing our number to an AZ area code a couple of weeks ago but it was so nice not hearing from them, I never changed our account back. I thought a lot of people had flagged their account the same way.

        Huh!?

They never call me and I don't recall ever telling them not too.

I asked because the other day I got four letters from the MO AG thanking me for reporting timeshare companies from calling us, since we are on the No Call list.

We have told RCI not to call us.....it definitely can hinder if you are doing a search...because then you have to call them, and the whole point of not having them call us was to avoid their high pressure sales pitch....much to my surprise, last week, with an ongoing search, I called to see what was happening, and they told me, and we had a pleasant chat, and NO PITCH....it was refreshing!
