RCI Website changes

Now we have a better idea of what the extended maintenance period was. The whole "Vacation Plans" section has been revamped with a new look. I'm sure there's more.

I had called a VG earlier today and was told the insurance had also changed. The insurance costs more now ($86 CDN) - don't know the US $ amount but it gives you a full exchange credit if you cancel and rebook within 6 months of your original exchange.

You can now search against all your deposits (if you have more than one deposited) or you can search with a specific deposit. Additionally, my trading power seems to have changed! My tigers have dropped about 10K units while my dog jumped 30K and my low-mid level trader jumped 40K (now 144K+)!!!!!


It also shows exchanges, last call and extra vacations all at once now

Yep. Definitely slow. This happened last time when they switched to the new format. I suspect it will be like this for a few days and probably have to get taken offline again for "additional enhancements"

My "generic" Wyndham deposits do not show in my account. Last update they were missing for a couple of days.

Due to the weekend's extended maintenance period, the match hold release process was suspended. The match hold release process will begin again on Tuesday, June 2nd at 12:01 am. If you have a reservation on hold from Friday and Saturday, May 29 and 30th, you will have until 11:59 pm Eastern Time on Monday, June 1st to confirm your reservation

I have 2 generics that are not searchable. Site is unbareably slow. However, I have about 10 exchanges done with generic deposits that I can now see online and add guest certificates to if needed. Used to have to call in for that.

Before the change, my only visible, a dog, could only see 81K units. Now it sees 144K. I don't think they are really available, which is why the site is so darn slow. I'd like to search and pull something really good, but have a feeling if I could get the site moving to do a search, it would just be taken away from me in the end.

I can also see my generic on-going searches. Definite improvements to the site. Just wish we could search with our generics. I am hopeful that it will come soon.

Oh Yeah, I think this thing is going to be pulled down very shortly. I'm seeing things I should never see with my Patriots Place dog trader - a Wyndham 70K deposit. Things like 2 bedroom Wyndham Oceanside and 765 units at the Grand Mayan including 2 bedroom units over the Holidays. I'm seeing things I never knew existed. I looked around for a while then it started to crash. Couldn't reserve one if I wanted to.

Still going to try to get a Christmas unit, but the site just won't stay up.

RCI site down again

I got on for a while and tried to book the Manhattan Club using four different weeks and it said it was not available after trying to put it on hold.
Long delays in between but it kept coming back up on the next search.
I didn't have a gold crown to search with and I wonder if it is still available starting June 12th.
It would be very frustrating if you start to see things that you cannot book.
Rentals in Manhattan were available at the Hyatt and Park 79 but the rental prices were so high you could stay anywhere you liked.

Well, it looks like a continued shift to Rental Condominiums International.

For many resorts I looked at, a straight rental is m/f plus exchange fee or less. I saw some nice weeks availible for LESS than an exchange fee, but none of them fit my schedule, so I did snag a nice week for just a few dollars above exchange fee.

RCI is on course to kill their exchange business.

I did see a ton of London, a difficult exchange, but every one a rental, not a single exchange in the bunch.

Flipping through availibility in Germany, one can see the new face of RCI.

Mondi Fereinclub Oberstaufen, where there used to usually be a fair amount of availibility for exchange is now showing 44 weeks availible, but ALL for rental only.

Gemunder Fereinclub Slazberg shows 80 weeks availible, but 71 of them are rental only, 7 are rental or exchange, and only 2 straight exchanges. Rental prices range from $287 / week for studios to $503 / week for 2BR.

All of the Landal resorts, which are not technically timeshares, but RCI owns them and used to put a fair amount of inventory into the exchange system, now shows ONLY rentals.
