RCI Website changes

Well, now I can't get back on. I guess everyone woke up in the US time zones and the system is stretched. That is one nice thing about being 7 hours ahead of the US, being able to get first crack at some of this stuff. I did pick up one good exchange and one good rental. I had to leave for a meeting before snagging another good rental I found, and then couldn't get back on when I got back.

The pickings were very slim, someplaces, like the UK, however, especially for exchange.

Additionally, my trading power seems to have changed!

Some things did change. I had two weeks on deposit that were exactly identical---both tigers. This morning, one sees consistently fewer units than the other---not a big difference, but a difference. For example, one saw 3BR at HGVC I-drive into 2010, but the other no longer does.

Not sure if this is a mistake, or an "enhancement"---if the latter, it means the small number of trade power levels is no longer so small.

I'll poke around later today to see what's going on.

Definitely screwed up for me--my ongoing searches are a mess, wrong dates. And now they're searching for one resort on each search, but it's supposed to be an entire area PLUS one resort on each search.

I can't even get in to look at exchanges. It keeps timing out.

I'm just cooling my jets till they get their act together. Har har, as if that will happen anytime soon.

Down for me, too, and one of the few times a year I actually want to do business rather than just play.

I want to deposit three weeks and do an exchange.

OH BOY! Now I do not know if it is me or RCI. I was not able to sleep at 3AM, so I went on RCI. I was so excited to see the site working. I was even more excited because one of my deposits was able to pull 2 units that I was searching for in Gatlinberg. However, in my sleepy stooper, I was trying to figure out why my ongoing search for Gatlinberg did not grab one of those units since I had them in my search. Then I noticed that instead of my search being for 7/9, it said 9/7. So now I am thinking it is me. I must have reversed the date when I did an ongoing search. I tried to cancel the search and start over, and when I tried to cancel, it showed the dates for a totally different week I have an ongoing search for. I really though it was me and my lack of sleep, and that I would deal with it this AM. So now, I can't get into RCI, and I am wondering if it was not me last night, but actually the RCI site.

Our generic Wyndham points exchange (made last year for this coming summer) did not used to have an online visible exchange confirmation. Now it's there!

My tiger trader used to have ~165K+ exchange unit options, then had ~40K early this AM, ~14K later this AM, ~145K a half hour ago and now I can't get in so it's fluctuating a lot! I'm not worrying about it until I see it settle to a consistent level for a day or so. The online availability of the Disney resorts is fluctuating in numbers too, but much less than previously seen so I'm guessing everything has not been reloaded yet.

I have been searching the UK a lot lately, and since this change, there seems to be less availible there for exchange. A number of resorts that used to be availible for exchange, are now showing only availible for rental (EV), so it looks like some inventory has been shifted from exchange to rental in the UK. In France, however, I am seeing a lot more for exchange than had been availible before the change, same for some resorts in Germany, but at others inventory seems to have been massively shifted from exchange to rental.

Finally I am in...

Using Florida Keys as an example:

5 resorts for my entire search period.
2 for exchange
3 for rental

2 of the 3 rentals I have never seen in RCI before. The third is Galleon, summer hotel units.

I had called a VG earlier today and was told the insurance had also changed. The insurance costs more now ($86 CDN) - don't know the US $ amount but it gives you a full exchange credit if you cancel and rebook within 6 months of your original exchange.

Here are the current terms, pulled off the drying-paint website. It's $69 US, and the credit is $189, for three months (not six). This is a good deal for those who anticipate "switching".

Part B

Upon canceling your confirmation, you will receive a $189 USD credit on your RCI account for a future exchange. This credit is valid for 3 months after date of cancellation.

Important: To enroll in RCI Vacation Protection, call RCI at (888)724-3559, at any time up to 30 days after confirming your Exchange. Coverage is effective upon RCI's receipt of the Vacation Protection fee. As of today I get in, finally, but, it takes forever and then it times out before I can wait for the stupid clock to stop and my deposit numbers to show up.
This afternoon I was finally at the point where I could start a search and then in the middle of that up pops a message that says (We cannot release the your exchange that you have on hold, please call the call center!) I don't have any exchanges on hold so fearing that they had put one on for my "convenience" I called in and the VC said no I didn't have anything on hold, but that the web site has been doing strange things!! Hey, do you think!!
I was so nice of them to make these enhancements for "our benefit"!!

I was on the phone with someone earlier today who was trying to exchange into Hawaii next March 2010. She had been told that they were still waiting on deposits? So I went in to prove they are lying sacks of horse puckey.

Couldn't get in though.

RCI blows.

I feel bad for the VCs though.

I had good luck late Monday night and exchanged a mediocre trader for Lawai Beach Resort for Thanksgiving week. But the site has been as slow as molasses for me ever since. I have a computer Euchre game on my computer and I can play an entire game while waiting for each page to load!

If the techies are working on it and it is Wednesday evening, things don't look very promising for a quick or effective fix. Oh dear!

I did call recently to deposit a week and I didn't have to wait long to get a VC though, which was nice.
