  • There have to be techies here who are absolutely laughing at RCI's usual ineptitude..

I mean, how can any business conduct themselves this way. Their site has been down most of 3 days, and when it is up, it slows and grinds, sputters and disappears.

Are you telling me that there is no other way to make a site improvement than to use your customer as a guinea pig?

Isn't there a wiser way to work "enhancements" out rather than test running it on your conusmer?
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

    KM,

In my past life I would have been CRUCIFIED for something like this!

Most technology people know it is better to leave an old system as a safety net and reschedule the cut-over, than to leave something as crucial to a business as this, unavailable for days on end.

But Lawren, we fail to realize this is RCI. Their motto is "we don't care, we don't have to."

Sounds like the mess that happened when they did a major upgrade to the on-line system about six or seven years ago.

A bunch of people, including the President of RCI, were fired or reassigned after that fiasco.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

So I wasn't the only one it wasn't working for.

I have been laughing since I posted this weeks ago.

I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be affiliated with RCI!

I confirmed that their site had malware... Hands down... Don't care what anyone has to say. They were at fault on this one.

Hate to say it. "I told you so"

These things are surprisingly hard to get right. It's very very difficult to replicate the stress of "live loads" in the lab. But, Lawren is right---fall back to the old interface if things don't go well, rather than burn yet another full business day futzing around with something that is clearly broken.

There is absolutely no excuse for RCI's IT ineptness. Either they are incompetent or don't care, you decide!! Other large companies like airlines, google and the like, many of the travel sites like Orbits and Kayak do upgrades all the time with no down time. RCI just doesn't deem it important to not have it's users experience down time.
When I was still working and was in charge of our network and servers I was not allowed to do this kind of thing and needed to find less disruptive ways to do maintenance!!
