RCI & The Point at Poipu (Diamond Resorts) - will we be able to go back?

We bought at The Point at Poipu when it was still the Embassy and it traded with RCI. It does not trade with RCI anymore. The only units that do trade with RCI are the ones that were bought before the resort started doing business with II and we own one of them.
If we dropped RCI and decided to go with II for a few years, will we be able to go back to RCI and deposit The Point at Poipu with RCI again?

I am assuming it is the UNIT that has the right to be with RCI - the particular ownership - not the owner (YOU) so even if u sold it, those rights would transfer.

I own an old Embassy week at Sheraton Broadway Plantations - I can reserve my deeded week 2 years out.
"Regular owners" can only reserve at the one year mark.

Don't confuse "developer" and "resort". The resort is dual affiliated and does trade with RCI. Only the developer (i.e., DRI) in not affiliated with RCI.

What that means is that if you use your ownership on your own (I.e., not through the DRI Club) you are free to do with it what you want, meaning that you can affiliate with any exchange company that will have you. If you have attached your unit to the DRI Club, you can only use II (and then you can only access II through the Club). If your ownership is part of the Club and then loses Club affiliation (e. g., if you sell the week) it reverts back to a regular ownership.

That's the long answer. The short answer is that as long as you are not part of the Club you can switch back and forth between II and RCI as much as you like. Because there are a number of owners who bought while the resort was only affiliated with RCI (and are quite satisfied with that arrangement, thank you very much) the resort will continue to maintain its dual affiliation.

If I could do an RCI search I could give you a definite definite answer.

Our original resort was RCI and then afilliated with II only. It remained available through RCI, too. I've never heard of one that didn't, but . . .

The only pertinent issue here is whether the resort is affiliated with RCI. As long as a resort - any resort - is affiliated with RCI, a person who owns at that resort can add that ownership to their RCI account. If the person is not an RCI member, the person can establish a RCI membership using that week.

In the question asked by Faust, the only way Faust would not be able to return to RCI would be if the resort dropped its affiliation with RCI during the time when Faust was using II exclusively. Of course, in that case, even if Faust hadn't switched to II Faust's RCI membership would no longer reference any Poipu ownerships.

You are correct and I have no plans to.

We go back to The Point at Poipu every year. I will mostly trade another resort I own that is affiliated with RCI and II, but just in case we can’t go back to The Point at Poipu for a year or two for any reason and II dose not work for us I would like to go back to rci.

My membership with rci ends in July 2010.
