I don't have time to say more, but the reply to my reply was snippety and condescending, vintage RCI.

In a separate issue, the Guide I had to use because RCI.com was not processing exchanges lied to me when he said he was giving me the $164 rate and crediting the $25 coupon.

I specifically asked if he was charging my card $139 and he said yes. He charged $164 instead and Feedback is siding with him so far. I have asked them if we all need to record our conversations with Guides.

I was on a pretty good run with them and they have suddenly turned very sour.

      Who knows ?

London is rarer than MB IMHO.

Oh, wait..... mine is a one bedroom/sleeps 4, full kitchen.. Maybe that's it ??
Allen House has probably the best supply / demand curve in all of timesharing. It would leave Disney in the dust. In the VIP program for resort staff and board members, it is the one resort in the world that cannot be traded into with RCI's VIP program.

I am totally unaware of this .

Probably your guide misspoke about the amount your card would be charged - but I believe you were charged the correct amount for the online exchange, which is $164. Ordinarily the guide-assisted phone rate is $189, but the way the guides are doing these by phone at the moment is to enter a $25 coupon into your account, to post against the $189 guide-assisted charge. Then they use it at the confirmation, along with the $164 charge to your card. So you paid the same as if you had confirmed on line.

This is how my recent transaction happened, at any rate. The guide also told me I would getting a $25 discount *off of the online rate* because he thought the coupon would stay on my account (ie he assumed that my card would get charged the $164 but I'd retain the coupon). But the coupon disappeared when the confirmation went through, along w/the balance on my acct of $164. I can't complain, because this is the correct charge, and nowhere was it advertised that exchange rates are now $139. Guides are often misinformed about a bunch of stuff, this is no different.

This is a program for HOA board members and resort management. There is a special VIP line at RCI that they can use. Trading power considerations, VEP, etc. are not used. The VIP member just has to give a deposit with the same size and color code, i.e. a 2BR red week for a 2BR red week. They can get anything RCI has in the exchange bank except Allen House. They do have to pay an exchange fee but they can take the most desirable weeks out there for a pink week of the same size, except Allen House. They deposited week can be from a personal RCI account, or more often from a developer or HOA owned week that is deposited. I do not even beleive it is required that they be an RCI member, since resort management can use this and they often don't own timeshare to be a member. Each resort designates one person to be the rep for VIP for any of the qualifying persons at the resort.

Nice incentive to run for your HOA board, isn't it?

I have no problem with this program since HOA board members do a heck of a lot of volunteer work and it is nice that RCI rewards them in a way that non-profit HOA's cannot. I also think it is positive for resort managers to be able to get out and see how other resorts operate.

Again, I had the $25 coupon (credit) already. He said he was charging me $164 minus the $25 coupon, and the charge to my account would be $139.

              Just like I explained.

That spoils what otherwise was one of the best experiences a Guide has given me in our 20 years.

Here's their reply to my reply to their reply:

"The RCI.com rate is $164, and the rate to confirm a
unit through Member Services is $189. He did give you the Web discount."

Yeah, I know that . . . I'm not brain dead. But he did not deduct the $25 coupon.

How frigging hard is this to understand??????

                  Me to them:

"I just verified that we do not have a $25 coupon in our account any more.

                  So . . .

THE GUIDE DID NOT GIVE US THE ONLINE RATE OF $164. HE CHARGED $189 AND USED OUR $25 COUPON TO GET IT DOWN TO $164.

HE LIED WHEN HE SAID HE WAS CHARGING $139 TO OUR CREDIT CARD.

PLEASE CREDIT OUR CREDIT CARD $25.

                  THANKS."

OK, if you'd already said you already had the $25 coupon before you began that transaction, I missed it in this thread. Maybe you can speak to a supervisor and clarify that yours was a pre-existing coupon (sorta like a pre-existing condition...). Since they were giving $25 coupons to everyone who called in reporting web problems and transacting by phone instead, perhaps that's the coupon they think you're referring to. In your case, there should have been 2 coupons in your account - you might suggest that, see what they say.

                      Two more replies from them:

                      #1: We're right, we're right, we're right.

#2: Oops, sorry, you're right. We'll give you another $25 coupon.

Which starts all over again the cause of the problem, not being able to use credits for online transactions.

                      "Oh did he ever return?
                      No, he never returned.
                      His fate is still unlearned.
                      He'll ride forever
                      Neath the streets of Boston.
He's the man who never returned."

Sorry if it sounded like I bit your head off. I had just been dealing with RCI and it put me in that someone kicked my cat frame of mind.

Rereading my post I can see that if you knew what I knew what I said explained it, but if you didn't know what I knew, maybe it didn't.

In any event, those at RCI shoulda known what I knew cuz they could look and see that the $25 coupon was already in our account. Someone there finally doing that is what straightened it out.

Well its been several weeks now and I do not see any change in what my units pull - other that day to day variances. I did lock in a few exchanges. I have 5 weeks in the bank and I cannot really commit to all those exchanges right now. So at this point I am going to assume (oh no - we know what that means) that the change is permanent and hope for the best.

I have been told that my situation has been resolved by canceling the exchange and reconfirming it at the correct amount. In fact, the date of the exchange is now today, but nothing has hit my credit card yet.

Overnight drop in Dikhololo trading power

                                Hello!
I am new to the forum. I just wanted to let you know that there may be another "adjustmewnt " going on. Before I went to sleep last night. My Dikhololo resort was pulling 138,000 units...I am doing an ongoing search for Hawaii in 2012...this morning, I checked in and it was down to 108,000....I called RCI and of course they knew nothing. I even spoke with a supervisor and he knew nothing about how that could have happened and basically made me feel helpless. He said he would send the issue to support, but offered no way for me to follow up...except that .."If there is a problem, we will call you"....which is ridiculous. Any suggestions...I am really upset about this. I was pulling up units in Hawaii before and now nothing except off-season. Thanx
