  • RCI's upgrade - Day 8

    after a relatively decent operating session yesterday our dear friends at RCI had yet another weekly scheduled maintenance window.

    We all feel that something is not right with trade power and "missing" weeks that we know were there and are not. I guess they tried to fix things and we are back to watching the grass grow and timing out.

    Oh well. I can't say that I'm surprised.

    So folks any bets on WHEN they'll get this thing working this week?

    Wow....How much business is RCI loosing, at this point?

      I wrote to them about the drastic change in trade power for my week. They said that all is not right yet with their enhancements and to check again in another week when all should be well again....

        My 2 generic Wyndham deposits disappeared with last nights update. However, I am using one for an ongoing search and that is still showing. It is running relatively quickly this morning, but not near what it used to.

          I have one deposit with RCI which has been searching for months. Yesterday I signed on to see that it was only searching for a single check-in date instead of the range of dates I originally entered. I wonder if I can get this fixed without losing my place in line.

          I hardly ever call RCI and they have messed up before when I have called them, which is why I like doing things online. But, not only could I not figure out a way to change the search dates, I feel like I need to talk to someone so I don't lose my place. Of course, you never know if what you ask for is really going to happen....

            I was having no luck at all in Weeks but I managed very nicely using Points to search weeks.

            They haven't added all the EV, LC "junk" on that side yet.

              My two formerly-identical deposits are still slightly, but consistently, different. Another set of deposits I have access to are still nuked down to 1/3-1/2 of the units they could formerly see.

              As far as I can tell, last night made no significant changes to what you can or can't see vs. yesterday.

                ''Enhancements''

                Those of us involved in airline frequent flyer programs known that the term ''enhancements'' is 'corporate speak' for screwing the customer. Any time an airline says it is ''enhancing'' its ff program, members cringe waiting to find out what they are going to lose.

                  I have this, too, with two ongoing searches. I decided to just sit and wait for a while before I call RCI, hoping they will get their act together. But my searches are for August 2010, so I have some time to fool around. In the meantime I've been doing manual searches for what I want, just in case something pops up that matches.

                    I think what you see online in your ongoing search and what is actually there are 2 different things. I called RCI because my search did not show all the parameters and was told everything was fine (why was I not comforted?). But sure enough, a few days later I got a match on one of the areas that was not visible.

                      I don't think that the single check-in date is a problem

                      For my ongoing search, it only shows one check-in date, but RCI is offering me other dates many weeks after the date that is shown (that are within my originally requested range). So I think that the single-date error is only an error in the screen, not in the actual search.

                        I'm still 50,000 units below what i had last Friday. I sent an E-Mail to RCI, still no response. Their IT unit should be fired. I can't imagine how much money they are losing with this extended screw up.

                          This morning, it seems to be working better but still with trading power issues.

                          There are still too many rentals only weeks, especially better weeks, at some non-points resorts. Many of the exchange weeks which had disappeared, however, seem to be back. When I see a resort like Tybrisa with 5 weeks rental-only and 1 that is rental or exchange, with the better weeks rental-only, it is clear that there is something rotten in the state of RCI.

                          However, I am still seeing some good value rentals, and if some prices stay the same, RCI will be worthwhile as a rental venue if not an exchange company. Howver, that is not true for all areas and some rental prices are sky high. I am sure there must be some portals to get the same rental prices without paying for membership, and it would be useful to find out what they are.

                            Confirmation

                            During this period, I was able to get a good exchange. I put unit on hold then confirmed it, last Wednesday. Since then, I've gotten 3 email confirmations from RCI. Guess they enjoy sending email

                              Well it was moving along pretty well until about 06:55 eastern...

                              seems a couple of my weeks got a bit more oomph back. The tiger got + 2k to 156k.

                              But now I've timed out again.

                              Signing back in and the tiger is just spinning and spinning.

                              ETA I got back in for ONE exchange and timed right back out. I give up. I have better things to do than get frustrated by RCI this morning.
