  • Anyone still having trouble with RCI?

Hi, I don't go onto RCI alot but I do find that my points account is not pulling up hardly anything especially in weeks inventory - I used to see lots of stuff in the weeks inventory and some in points but I find that it really isn't doing much these days. I see and hear the problems but shouldn't we with points be able to see alot of inventory..I see poeple post they see 100's of resorts - not sure if that is a feature in weeks account but I am lucky if I get 1 in the weeks inventory for Hawaii, granted I am looking in the near future so that may be the difference I am seeing. Am I doing something wrong, besides waiting for last minute to book. Or is this all related to the RCI "enhancements"?? I think I have lots of points to see things - 203K does it matter that part of that is from last year??? Since I don't deposit the points in the account, does my trading power get affected?

    Any help is appreciated.

Availbility in Hawaii is way down right now, around 125 units over the next 24 months where there used to be around 500. Also, many Hawaii resorts are points resorts so they wouldn't show up in the weeks search and are likely way picked over in standard. Try doing a standard search for the farthest out weekend check-in it allows and you should get a handful of results. On the weeks side, let me know what dates you want to search for and we can compare results. At least you will know you are no worse off than the rest of us....

You should try your search again, all of the missing weeks units in Hawaii came back tonight.

        Another question

        Hi Philsfan,

A friend called to say you posted to check again and it's true I did see Hawaiian resorts in the weeks inventory.

I do have a question, do points accounts get the same stats as (I imagine) the weeks people. I keep hearing that you could see x # in Y region/state and ### overall, where does everyone see that?

I am lucky if I see 6 in Hawaii points and 5 in weeks for Aug 21, 2009 . I only have a points account. I can see lots of inventory in extra vacations but I don't think this is what you are talking about, right?

        Thanks for your help.

The weeks side now gives totals for all different categories depending on how far you drill down into it. It gives totals for the region, the subarea, by the month, etc. They keep saying they will update the points side web site but they haven't followed through on that threat yet.

Points is seeing all weeks that are not at resorts that have sold points ownerships. For example, a weeks owner at Kauai Beach Villas can deposit a unit but you will not see it in a weeks search from the points side. You can only see that resort as a standard reservation.

If you know you want to make a standard reservation, your best bet is to check at exactly 10 months from check-in.

For some reason, a bunch of Hawaii units seem to show up on the weeks side around 21 days before check-in to 14 days before. If you can make your plans that late in the game, you may get a great vacation and it will only cost you 9000 points.

Thanks for the explanation, yes I have seen some good deals close to check in but being from the east coast for Hawaii that is 99% of the time not feasible - I think. I was trying to check airfare to kuaia from ny and it is expensive, I tried breaking it up by using jetblue to west coast then from there go to the islands but that worked out to be the same as if I took it from NY almost.

Actually I did find a cheap non-stop to HNL from NY but need to wait for vacation schedules to get ironed out. Hope I don't lose it. I read somewhere here or OY that someone was able to get $280 r/t from LAX (?) in years past. That's incredible to me.

            Thanks Again, Silvia
