  • Ok I was excited that RCI has DVC now

But can someone please tell me I am not shut out because I have a points resort in Orlando??? Please don't tell me that..here I am getting excited about planning a vacation there and I read the last sentence **MEMBERS WHO OWN AT RCI RESORTS IN ORLANDO/KISSIMMEE CANNOT EXCHANGE INTO DVC RESORTS IN THE ORLANDO/KISSIMMEE AREA** Please tell me this isn't true...

I hate to say this but it appears to be true. There have been complaints OY about the same issue. It seems to be anyone who owns any resort, even a very small points package in Orlando, is left out in the cold. Never mind that the majority of points might be owned somewhere else. If you own anything in Orlando, you appear to be shut out of DVC.

Leave it to RCI to screw up what could have been a good thing.

Thanks for the news! I guess I am LUCKY that all my points are in the Orando area so I am shut out that way and not because I have a small amount there and a majority somewhere else, that would really p*ss me off, not that this isn't.

I bought into II so I could trade into DVC but had it a short time before they made the switch and now RCI did it again $#%^. I will need to wait until it goes back to II or I get rid of the Orlando TS and get a different TS in RCI outside of Florida.

Oh well will need to fork over the money if I want to stay in Orlando in a DVC. I think the extra vacations are exempt from that rule, I didn't see it in the notes.

        Lilliana,

You could use those points at Disneys Vero Beach. That is not Orlando Disney. And you could stay at Bonnet Creek which is almost like DVC. Of course you could always buy a DVC now that it's cheap.

Pretty soon you'll be able to go to Disney Hawaii and California since they won't be Orlando resorts either. Those will be the 2 newest DVC resorts. Don't know if that helps.

Of course you could always rent from an owner. Some good deals now with those who have to pay their maintnenace fees and can't afford to go. Most people don't let their DVC go into foreclosure.

I've heard conflicting reports on this. A few people have said that the VC would not let them book with an Orlando points ownership. But, the RCI rep present at the Wyndham annual meeting was quoted as saying that this restriction should not apply to Points.

It's worth a call, and maybe a second if the first doesn't give you the answer you are looking for.

You could also use them at Disney's Hilton Head Island resort.

Don't forget about Disneyland, too. The Grand Californian has a new DVC wing opening soon.
