Let me summarize:

$#!+ happened 5/30 and no one appears to be better off.

My recollection is that some white weeks are seeing a little more, but I'd have to go back and check. I believe some CMV UDI owners mentioned this.

They're really playing us today . . . 2 South Seas resorts and one Sanibel resort in the 14-day window, rubbing our noses in what used to be available before 5/30.

These are castoff hand-me-downs . . . something someone couldn't use or rentals that didn't get rented.

A member here has been asking me about SW FL resorts and was needing exactly one of these. Then he decided he couldn't take one.

So few available . . . someone you know needing one . . . then he can't take it.

We have not taken assessment for awhile, compared waht each of us is seeing. Right now for the next 24 months I am seeing:

Florida: 11971
SGC/FL: 255
21-Day Window: 9

All are the highest they have been recently.

The 21-day stuff is extremely volatile, bouncing around from zero to what it is now, 9. The only Top 20 resorts I see is in that window.

I have a second week that covers the whole window that's about 70 FL resorts lower and sees 285 SGC. A tiger that I can search with sees:

OK, I'll assume part of my issue is trading power adjustment on 5/30. Wonder what 31 you are seeing that I am not?

Any of them any of the HGVCs?

Now that I think about it, I am searching with all deposits, the total of 4.

The Great Experiment

Since stuff seems to be appearing regularly in the 21-day Window, I started an ongoing search with my best trader for anything coastal from Englewood to Marco for 1/8/or 1/9.

Of course, nothing is simple, but I got a good Guide and he assured me he can handle it without screwing it up. He said my Guide problems in the past are because I did not get him.

The complications:

***How to use our Member Dollars without having to pay the extra $25 it costs to talk to a Guide, which you have to do in order to use exisiting credits?

Answer: He issued a $25 coupon. That will carry forward for our next transaction. When we have to call in to use more Member Dollars, we will also use that coupon, and they will issue another $25 coupon to carry forward, ad infinitim, until they allow credits to be used for online transactions.

***$50 in Member Dollars recently redeemed had not hit yet, so we will have to use that next time.

***Ongoing Searches are not suppose to grab anything at 14 days out, or shorter, and there is no way to change that, as I have been told before. He did say, however, that the ongoing search actually does continue and he has seen matches inside 14 days.

***He promised that I will be called if/when a match is made. I said, "So I will not have to take a hotel unit at Slimey Slough during Red Tide without being notified." He said, "You mean a Gold Crown". I said, "No, an II 5-Star."


He liked that.

I looked at our account online and our balances don't make sense.

At the moment here are my all-deposit numbers, ie 3 deposits (none see the whole 24-mo window):

FL: 12936 (12927 when I pulled it up)
SGC: 301 (304 when I pulled it up)
SGC in next 21 days: 8 (nothing great)

Yeah, it looks like a took a pretty good hit 5/30.

The bummer about using an ongoing search is that just about all of the stuff appearing in SW FL is 14-days or less out. Actually, now that I look at it, 2 of what we all are seeing is for 12/12, and that is more than 14 days out.

Since stuff is appearing online that means there are either no ongoing searches for those, searches are not matching because they are in the 14-Day window or the computer is screwed and ongoing searches are not matching when they should.

The Guide mentioned 45-Days and I said it was more like a 14-day window and he agreed.

I'm still not sure he did the money right.

I'll keep searching online and we'll see.

Damn!!!

I am on RCI and the ongoing search grabbed Lehigh, a place we definitely do not want to go. My search criteria was Englewood to Marco Coastal and Lehigh is Inland, not Coastal.

A Guide just told me I cannot exclude Lehigh from a general search and I will have to modify the search by using specific resort IDs. I will do that so I don't have to refuse Lehigh every few hours, a problem I now remember having during my ongoing search years.

Also, when I tried to release Lehigh online, I got an error message:

We cannot complete your transaction - You were not charged for your last attempt to add a guest certificate. Please call the Call Center to continue.

I have done nothing involving a Guest Certificate so that makes me even more suspicious that John the Guide screwed something up earlier today.

The Guide said she released Lehigh for me.

Sure enough, it got released.

Now the Ongoing Search is for SW FL, the old subregion that did include Lehigh, so somehow since this morning that got changed from Englewood to Marco to SW FL. Don't know how that happened, but it does explain why I got Lehigh. In the new RCI.com SW FL is no longer a subregion, but here it is for the purpose of ongoing searches. That shouldn't be.

So much for Day 1 of my Ongoing Search experiment and for one of my reasons to avoid them . . . You can't trust them, or RCI computers, to do what you can do yourself. The idea is good but the execution is questionable.

Thanks but I did not have to do that. When I went to modify it I saw that there was, in fact, the coastal selection I wanted. The Guide just entered the wrong subregion.

It's no wonder folks new to this have hard time figuring it out.
