  • Let's take a look at the other side of the coin . . . with so many reporting so much less selection since the 5/30 devaluation, a chosen few must be seeing the same numbers, 165-170K, right?

I was going to say must be seeing more, but you can't see more than all of them! The idea is that fewer will see all of them.

So, anyone here seeing those kinds of numbers, or feel they are seeing what they were pre-5/30. DVCs, for instance, would be a good gauge, or, something I am very familiar with, anyone seeing 6-8 in SW FL for January, 2012? That's what I used to see this far out.

Or 580-630 total for FL/SGC? That's another good gauge.

    Let's just do those:

    FL DVC:

    FCL/SGC:

    FL/SGC Jan 2012:

Haven't you/we established that thousands went permanently missing? - into rentals, we assume?

FWIW, I have 4 deposits which altogether span the 24-mo window, all of which used to be tigers and all of which were devalued on 5/30 (due to size, among other factors possibly). And FWIW, I can't see those HGVC resorts in SW FL anymore, either.

      My today's numbers are:

      All Deposits [156,639]

      Florida Inland [772]
      Florida Panhandle [589]
      Northern Atlantic Coast [2,620]
      Northern Gulf Coast [522]
      Orlando Area [5,864]
      Southern Atlantic Coast [4,688]
      Southern Gulf Coast [309]
      The Florida Keys [19]

Now when I choose Jan 2012, I get:

      Florida Inland [5]
      Florida Panhandle [4]
      Northern Atlantic Coast [42]
      Northern Gulf Coast [11]
      Orlando Area [83]
      Southern Atlantic Coast [126]
      Southern Gulf Coast [4]
      The Florida Keys [2]

Maybe someone w/better deposits will post and give you higher #'s.

      • I've yet to see any deposit, or any report of any deposit, that sees the numbers "we used to see". There might be one out there, but if any TS4Mer has it, they aren't talking.

That, to me, is the biggest open question. My previous theory---that they goofed trade power for a brief time and let people see everything during the switch---no longer seems to be supported by the evidence. If my theory were true, I would have thought that numbers overall would have recovered by now. That they haven't is a real head-scratcher.

In particular, no one, anywhere, is reporting those 300-odd SWFL weeks. But, we can't find them in any rental channel, either---at least not one identifiably tied to RCI. But, RCI is not the least bit shy about renting top-shelf units in general, so Occam's Razor suggests they wouldn't be shy about renting these either.

The most I've seen is 1, so that is one area that I have been hit in. Maybe they have a system of analyzing where you go every year, and when, and drop those.

          What are you seeing?

          • Yes, the real head-scratcher is why the total number has never recovered. Even if some deposits were taken during the enhancement, subsequent deposits should have restored it.

Could it be that some deposits just are not seen by anyone now?

            Wish I could say more, but . . .

Jim, as of right now the number is down to 2, and they're both 1-BR units at Marco Resort & Club #1861. Not too thrilling.

If I see a higher number again, I'll open it up and post the results.

That's all I've seen, too, the 52nd rated of 52 SW FL resorts.

Funny how I would only see one and you would see more, since it is all at the same lesser resort.

                • If it is a trading-power thing, it's very strange to see as nice a place on as nice a beach as this:

                  Calini Beach Club (#5026)
                  Sarasota FL, 34242
                  2 BR
                  Check-In Date
                  21-Jan-2012

while if you go just 50 miles further south, in the 50 mostly-lesser resorts there, there isn't squat.

The situation in SW FL is the most unexplainable, or, at least, unexplained, in my 20-plus years of timesharing, and I have shared this 13-year study in detail on two forums, with no explanation from anyone else, either.

                  • A minor observation.

I did an exchange this week with an All Deposits manual search. I sorta paid attention to see what deposit it auto-selected. I did not play around to see if another of our 5 deposits would get it, which I probably should have, but I did not want to screw things up playing around.

In any event, I just went with the deposit it selected.

Prior to using that deposit, the total for All Deposits was higher than the highest single deposit. Now it is the same. So, that deposit was (likely) seeing exchanges that none of the others were. Conversely, the lesser traders of those that remain are (not likely) seeing anything that the best trader is.

That would make sense since all of the remaining deposits are different weeks at the same resort.

Strange . . . all the deposits are still the same, but All Deposits is seeing a few more than the highest single deposit.

The deposits are all still the same, but now All Deposits is seeing more than 2000 more exchanges than the highest single deposit.

There will never be an end to the quirkiness.

                          • Perhaps a mini-epiphany . . . the amazing change in the All Deposits number relative to the best individual deposit number may be evidence that although trading power is set at the time of deposit, relative to other deposits, actual trading power for deposits changes over time, so I've been led to believe.

Specifically, the closer it gets to the use date of a deposit, without it being taken, the more likely that a deposit that was not previously able to see it will be able to.

Also, the more similar deposits there are, without being taken, the more likely that a deposit that previously could not see them will be able to. So, if more deposits are made, lesser traders may be able to see them.

Consider Bulk Deposits, when temporarily the supply/demand balance is upset, and better-than-normal trades are possible.

Perhaps this is why those in the know tell you to be patient and that Ongoing Search will come through.

However, that advice is contrary to the Early Deposit/Early Exchange emphasis.

It also plays havoc with making other necessary vacation plans such as rental cars and airlines.

It also plays havoc with one's patience.
