PS I was seeing more like 168,000 before.
This morning it was ~155k for a solid 2 years June09 to June11. We all are missing around 20k. This thing is still broken JMHO. Hawaii seems to be coming back it was almost non-existant when we got "enhanced".

I just found this note I had placed in a couple of For Sale ads for my best trader - 'The 2009 deposit listed 166,010 worldwide exchange possibilities on RCI on 05/25/09.'

That was the Monday before the change.

I edited the ads today to say:

The 2009 deposit listed 155,521 worldwide exchange possibilities on RCI on 06/27/09.

I appreciate the several confirmations of what I am saying. Sometimes some folks at RCI assume that I am just another dufus who doesn't know what I'm talking about. The fact is I am a dufus who does know what he's talking about.

There is no uncertainty that the total number of available exchanges dropped from 165000-170000 to the 155000 range at the time of the enhancement.

Florida dropped a couple thousand and SGC dropped nearly 300, almost in half.

Here is a snippet that gives me hope:

"We realize all of the glitches have not been resolved, but the
Technical Help Desk is still working on it."

          That was on 6/25.

I suspect they are placating us. The site has been remarkably consistent over the past two weeks, which is not suggestive of the slide-rule set still mucking about.

My current operating theory: a bunch of stuff got snapped up during the Recent Unpleasantness, when many folks saw things they weren't supposed to see and took advantage of their good fortune. As new deposits come in, I think the spacebank will return to "normal" (though trade power adjustments will stick.) The DVC units seemed to follow this pattern: they plunged to nothing, and have now completely recovered because DVC is huge, and even with their small exchange rate, they see many dozen deposits every week. Hawaii also plunged and is recovering.

The other possibility is that The Powers That Be took all the good stuff off the books, and is slowly adding it back in. To me, that sounds like more smarts than is likely.

              Talk about wildly fluctuating!!!

One minute there's 12 Aruba Last Minutes for July at REALLY nice resorts click on them and everything is gone except Bonaire.

              Same thing happened with France.

My numbers are jumping by about 1k up and down each time I'm forced to log in. I'm told I put a week on hold? I did no such thing...

real wierd. Maybe we'll get lucky and grab the exchange of our dreams this morning!

The problem with that theory is that this drop did not happen over time. It happened as soon as the site came back up. Whatever happened did so DURING the maintenance not after it.

Not so with DVC. They were there for a few days, and then disappeared over a few more. The 2010 weeks did not go to rentals. The drop in "total numbers" did happen quickly, but could have been a result of monkeying with trade power. That said I could well be wrong.

I tend to agree with Carolinian.

Back when the changes first took affect, I ran some printouts of the numbers I was seeing because there was a significant change in my trading power - mostly upward. When I compare those numbers to the numbers today I do not see much variation. Mostly the available exchanges from now until the end of the year are down and the number from Jan. 2010 are up. This seems like what you would expect to see with new deposits coming in and people booking vacations for the balance of this year. Also, all of June 2009 is gone now and has not been replaced significantly by June 2011 so the total availables are down some.

Although I can see pretty much the maximum number (155K+) (based on what others have reported) I cannot see any DVC in Orlando and never have since the change. I think this is because my resort is in Orlando and I am being block by the geographic filter. So I cannot address that issue.

Please forgive me, but DVC is not something I bother looking at. One trip to Disney every decade is more that enough for me and there are plenty of nice resorts in Orlando. The total numbers is really the key and they either monkeyed with the trading power or simply shipping these weeks off to the rental pool. That dramatic and sudden drop in the total number is the huge red flag.

Since it was the point I was trying to make when I started this thread, I have to agree, even with Steve , that what I am interested in disappeared during the enhancement. It has never been there since the site came back up.

& DVC also disappeared during the enhancement, which I know because I was looking at it just before the enhancement, even though I did not necessary want it, but that I may have to take it cuz I can't get something where we really want.

Besides, how many places can you see giraffes from your lanai???

The giraffes disappeared during the enhancement.

Ah, but it has reappeared. There are > 100 Orlando DVC units as I type. Not as many can see them as could before The Recent Unpleasantness, but they are very much there.

Maybe by exchanging into South Africa?

I believe we are trying to establish what can and what can't.

& I don't recall trading power ever being adjusted after a deposit was made . . . to an existing deposit.
