  • I got an answer from my favoritest, straightest-shooting feedback explainer person. Unfortunately, this time it is as convoluted as the worst I have received over 20 years.

I sincerely believe it is because she can do no better; I don't believe real, meaningful information is made available to a lot of employeees, so they just learn how to talk RCI-speak, much the same way as they take a person in off the street, give them a phone, call them a Guide, and put them in charge of booking your vacation.

To shorten her many words to few, the ability to see numbers is a new experience for RCI members. What we are seeing is just typical and just the way it has been going all along, when we could not see it.

Only problem with that explanation is that many of us have done daily search of the same areas so we have known the numbers for a long time.

So, I don't feel any better about the 50% of the SW FL inventory that disappeared during the disenhancement, and area I have searched almost every day for 12 years, so I have known the numbers before they became so public, and so know that this has never happened before.

Hard to tell what this really means... its been two months and I don't see any more of my local prized 'Oregon' resorts than before. In percentages its 1.5 % more. Where are these additional units?
Maybe they are all Hyatt hotel units

        • Although failing to provide any answers, my dialogue has been interesting. The latest thanked me for my understanding that what she can make available to me is limited by what is (or is not) made available to her.

That has almost always been my experience with RCI, that I find warm and friendly people who try to help, who want to help, but cannot because the answers are not made available to them.

This particular person and we have both been with RCI for exactly 20 years. She understands that since I started searching and recording specific information 12 years ago, on an almost daily basis, that I am familiar with what has been available over the years.

She did say that there still is a lot of inaccurate information on the website, phantoms as they are being called here.

There's something sadly reassuring in knowing that those whose job it is to help us at RCI are as clueless as we are about what's going on.

I don't find any of this reassuring Jim.

I think that we have the goods on them and they are not afraid that we have them. Take a look at what is and what is not seeing the latest Manhattan Club deposits.

And yes I am composing a missive to feedback@RCI regarding that one.

I will share what, if anything, I hear back.

              • There is some new info in the class action lawsuit, and two of the leaders among the objectors are posting on it OY. I have asked them to come here, too, but they haven't yet. There is a poll on the thread OY that everyone here should participate in.

                  I'll get right on that.

To what end? You already know the answer. Trade power was globally recomputed. There are winners and losers. When it comes to MC, I'm a loser. Then again, given the rental value of what I'm trading, and the rental value of MC, that's not necessarily "wrong" if you assume like for like means "relatively similar cost to rent."

While I think there may have been some trade value issues, such as with South Africa, which was then corrected, the big issue is the 10K+ of the better weeks that simply disappeared.

For my tiger, it is not a matter of trade power going down. I still see the occaisional summer Royal Regency in Paris or very hard to get Chateau de Maulmont (which only has ~10 deposits a year), but the range of good weeks is very down. The fact that the occasional gems pop up show that it is not a trade power issue. The fact that the range of good stuff availible is much narrower than it was before RCI went hog wild on rentals shows that the system is being drained.

                          • There may have been, but the MC issue is not weeks that are not there. It is weeks one cannot see.

If anyone would like to use this specific month for comparing relative trade power of your spacebanked weeks (doesn't deal with where the disappeared weeks went - and by the way, current Endless Vacation magazine has a full-page ad for MC rentals on the primely-positioned page opposite table of contents), today my 2 spacebanks show for Aug 2011:

                              161 units, 102 resorts
                              163 units, 103 resorts

Perhaps this is a discussion for ex-ops forum, instead of this thread...

Just checked again. A minute ago, mine was up to 158 units.
