Mine is a weeks unit and supposed to be very red, but who knows now ?

It's RCI's world and we just live in it.

As suggested earlier, why not compare totals in specific months? Your total number may well be lower than others because you are comparing an earlier week than those with the highest numbers - ie it is only effectively seeing June 2009 - Jan 2011 which is just over 19 months at this point.

My only spacebank is July 2010, which can view July 2009 - June 2011, effectively 24 months. So if our weeks were equal, yours would logically see thousands fewer, because it expires earlier.

Do you want to share your month-by-month numbers for us to compare? Then at least you'd know whether RCI is giving it top-tier trading status, or not.

Agreed. I like it ! Yes, it is a great idea - more specific and I will send out the numbers later

If what has disappeared was stuff we would not be interested in, then it would not make any difference.

But that is not the case.

First, for new stuff, I am only seeing 2 DVC studio units and before the enhancement I saw a lot, same as many others.

Second, no one likely knows more about the availability of resorts in SW FL, since I have searched it almost every day for 12 years. I know the resorts, how the rank, and have occasionally POd people by referring to the lesser resorts as lesser resorts.

I presently have four deposits that at one time or another have been able to see everything that can be seen, including the nicer SW FL resorts, like the HGVCs, South Seas, Sanibel stuff, etc.

None of those four deposits can now see any of those better resorts.

Beags: as we talked about before, I think you might be seeing eveything that is there---the relativley smaller number is because you have a smaller search window.

In the broader question: I'd love to be able to point to the smoking rental unit gun, but I haven't seen it for the things I look for carefully (mainly, DVC). I suspect that things got snapped up during the window when many people reported seeing units they didn't normally see. At least, that's the way this feels to me.

But if RCI is renting them, then they are renting them. The membership agreement clearly allows this, and it seems clear that they do. Being surprised by this is much like Renault being shocked---shocked I tell you!---to find gambling going on in Rick's.

For me, this is nothing personal. It is strictly business. For now, RCI still provides me with value, and so they still get (some of) my business. When that's no longer true, I'll look elsewhere.

Here, from memory, can anyone see, Seawatch on the Beach, Charter Club of Marco Island, Club Regency, Eagle's Nest, Surf Club, Lighthouse Resort, Vanderbilt Beach Club, Bel Air Beach Club, any of the South Seas, Casa Ybel, either of the Sanibel Beach Clubs, Sanibel Cottages, Shell Island Beach Club, Tortuga Beach Club, Hurricane House . . .

There's no way that there are absolutely no deposits from any of those any time in the next two years.

If anyone can see some, how many total exchanges are you seeing?

Oh, yes, they are renting them. Here is the inside story from an RCI employee who posted on a UK-based t/s site. The owner of that site checked his bona fides by asking him a series of questions about his own RCI account that only someone with access to RCI's computers could answer and Anon came back with all of the right answers. He is what he says he is.

Another RCI employee, Bootleg, posted similar material here and on TUG.

As to RCI sneaking the language about rental into the fineprint/boilerplate of that agreement, often AFTER people joined and were presented with it, is just a very slimy way to do business. There has been discussion on a number of t/s sites that it way well be a contract of adhestion and thus not enforcible. They still falsely hold themselves out as an exchange company when they are really a rental/exchange company.

The DVC comparison is just because, but . . .

When it comes to SW FL, our real interest . . . no, actually, one of only two interests we have when it comes to RCI, any way you look at it . . . all of the Gold Crowns, all of the better resorts, have just disappeared.

The best available SWFL resort is my 23rd rated one, Lahaina Inn.

The new world order. Caribbean is just as disheartening and that was the reason I hung in with RCI for so long as they had the most presence in that region. They still do but I'm not seeing a damn thing I'd want not only when I would like to go but at anytime over the next 2 years.

Back to the topic we were discussing . . .

I have confirmed that no one is seeing any of the SW FL Gold Crowns or any of the better SW FL resorts. The best any of us are seeing is the 23rd rated SW FL resort, Lahaina Inn.

I, and others, always saw some of them, especially late summer and hurricane season.

Now, none. zip. nada. zilch. null.

It is as if the enhancement just made them all go away.

Warm season in England is just as depressing. That is true even with canalboats which used to be readily availible in summer even with a blue week. Now they are not even there on the cusp of summer with a prime red week.

I was afraid of that.

It isn't that I'm not doing as many ex-ops as before it is that I'm not seeing very many things worth posting outside of the next 2 weeks in exchange only. I'm guessing they give up when it hasn't rented or maybe even that what I am seeing as Last Minute is also available as a rental. Like this one:

One curious thing that has been reported OY is that silver crown Dikhololo in SA has really been zapped on trading power, but when one tries to trade INTO it, nothing is availible. It would seem that it ought to have good trading power, if it is not availible to trade into any time of year, but it doesn't.

I looked at Hawaii this morning, which I have searched frequently in the past but not kept as detailed records, and it does not look as plentiful as before. Still stuff, but not as much and not as big.
