    • It's official, the 2011 weeks I just deposited are down substantially from the same 2010 deposits, which were already down a bit from what 2009 and previous years were, not to mention the all-at-once 5/30 adjustment. They had been top traders since 1999/2000, when I first saw them in a trading power test.

Of course, I still have several trading power tests saved.

One is down 10000 and the other 40000.

Am I wrong, or is no one saying their trading power is up?

& if that is the case, that everyone's trading power is down, that sure seems to free up a significant number of deposits to do something else with.

Is there anyone else who believes that there is likely a significant number of deposits, say from 10,000-40,000, that no one can see?

Are you sure this isn't just an issue with the search window? For example, if you deposit an August 2011 week today, it can't see anything prior to August 2010.

          • FL/SGC is 235 for us today.

Up until 5/30/09, it was 590-630.

            Kinda pisses one off.

            But not many, I guess.

            • How About Hawaii?

How many Units and Resorts do you see for Hawaii in Jan and Feb of 2012?

What are the total number of Units and Resorts that are available for Hawaii at any time?

Hawaii is said to be the most requested area for exchanges by RCI.

This is what I am seeing on March 11, 2010 at 10:10 am CT.

I have 4 weeks spacebanked with RCI. In the past I have traded into The Point at Poipu, Ka'anapali Beach Club, Bay Club at Waikoloa, and HGVClub@Waikoloa Beach Resort with these weeks.

                  • I have been timesharing for more than 20 years, sharing with and learning from others on internet forums for more than half of that.

I have spent thousands of hours searching and documenting specific availability, increasing my knowledge of specific areas.

I have no horse in the race, nothing to be gained by skewing what I see. I have tried to be objective, reporting both the good and the bad.

Here is what another forum participant said of me 8 years ago:

". . . one day you are bashing the exchange companies, the next day taking up for them."

Well, sometimes there's good news and sometimes there's bad news.

I have defended RCI against lame, uninformed, bogus claims. That has not gone unnoticed by RCI.

"You sound like a great guy and on our side for the most part! Good to hear and I'm happy to help."

I have numerous warm correspondences with RCI where I and they were working together on things. I know them and they know me by name.

At one time I sent them a report around 100 pages long.

I report what I see when I see it. If there is positve to report, I do

I haven't seen any lately, especially since 5/30/09.

                      • This is a bit off topic... I am a fairly new user to RCI online; as a HGVC owner, we just got access to RCI online a few months ago. I have seen all of these posts where people list numbers of exchange week available, broken down by area, etc. How is that done? I have poked around the RCI online site and I just don't see how to do that.

Is there a tutorial on how to do some of these "trade tests", or searches for multiple areas, etc? Any pointers on how to use the web site more efficiently would be greatly appreciated, as I find it very clumsy and inefficient.

For example, sometimes I just want to see what is available, anywhere, for a given week or two. It seems that you need to search every possible sub-region (which takes forever). I'm sure I'm missing something.

                        Thanks!

                        • I'll try (I already lost it once).

In Weeks, if I click on Search For a Vacation, it shows the deposits I can search with, and the number of exchanges each can get.

You can also search by All Deposits . . . all the exchanges all your deposits can get.

                          All Deposits [146,687]

I selected that and it breaks down the choices,

                          by Region:

                          Region
                          USA
                          Carolinas and the Southeast [7956]
                          Florida [13934]
                          Gulf States [3952]
                          Hawaii [262]
                          Mid-Atlantic [1706]
                          Mid-South [7404]
                          Midwest & Plains [3723]
                          New England [6533]
                          Pacific Coast [5631]
                          Rocky Mountains [7861]

or you can open Rest of the World

By Month, with each month and numbers.

So, let's say I click on Florida. It shows the choices by Subregion:

                          Destination
                          Florida Inland [776]
                          Florida Panhandle [478]
                          Northern Atlantic Coast [2,488]
                          Northern Gulf Coast [445]
                          Orlando Area [5,265]
                          Southern Atlantic Coast [4,240]
                          Southern Gulf Coast [237]
                          The Florida Keys [4]

                          By city, with numbers, and

                          By Month, with numbers.

If I select January, 2012 (207), it shows the choices again by Subregion, by city, each with numbers, or by date in January. When you put the cursor on a date, it shows how many choices on that date.

(I lost it again . . . the site doesn't give you much time to play around any more)

But, at that point if I select a Subregion it will show choices by city, if I select a city it will show available exchanges and the calendar with available dates, and if I select Date it will show available exchanges.

In any event, you just keep filtering until you get where you want to go, and there are numbers on everything along the way.

RCI has always been very secretive, and it was shocking when the numbers appeared not long ago. There has never been and explanation why, but it seems to have coincided with the classaction lawsuit.
                          - - - - -
Before numbers were provided, for many years I recording the numbers I saw each day for SW FL (the former name for the Subregion) for each January. I have that handwritten, and I have the highest number seen any day of each month in a table/graph format. So I know how far out choice peaked.

I believe I have data for 2004 through 2010, and missed 2011 because stuff changed. I am starting again with 2012.

                          Or . . .

You can search by a keyword, resort ID(s), or destination, with a date window:

Enter a Destination, Resort ID, or Keyword

Narrow your search by date (optional)

                          • Thanks, JLB. Unfortunately, it sounds like my interface is different enough that this will not work. When I go into my account (customized for HGVC owners), I don't choose a deposit to search with -- everything is based on how many HGVC points it costs (both for the "weeks" and "points" sides). So it looks like HGVC owners can never do an apple-to-apple comparison to these "trade tests" that I always see. Bummer!

If you have followed my laments, you know that I can no longer see the wonderful SW FL HGVC resorts I use to see, and trade into, nor does HGVC seem inclined to discuss it with me.
