  • Hyatt Hotel units

For city lovers, the new Hyatt additions to RCI must be very tempting. It seems that they are adding units for a new Hyatt every couple of days. There are more than two dozen Hyatts in the Resort Directory.

One of the great things about timeshares for us is the full kitchen in the units we trade for. Even though we eat out for dinner most nights, eating out for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day would add a tremendous cost to the overall trip.

That being said, as a baseball and football fan who lives far from home, getting a timeshare in some of these cities has road trip written all over it. It will be tough to give up 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen in Hawaii for a hotel room on Chicago though, even if it is a Hyatt.

Also, these don't seem to be available in points at all. If the price in points was right, I would definitely go that route but they are just not there at all. What's up with that?

The new Hyatt additions to RCI must be very tempting

A few days ago, I was able to pull the Hyatt Atlanta
but the cost of (self/valet) parking was the deciding
factor on passing on this wonderful Hyatt hotel trade.

Would love to be able to get the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay
in Cambridge, Maryland - but it is no showing up for me.

RCI finally responded to my question about why the Hyatt's are not available in points. Here it is:

Thank you for your e-mail. Mr. Horn is out of the office today. I will
be happy to respond in his absence.

R466 and R475 are acquired inventory which will only be available
through Extra Vacations or Last Call searches.

To assist members in easily identifying the type of vacation available
during searches, the following icons are used:
      * Exchange only ? equals sign
      * Extra vacations only ? coins
      * Last Call only ? clock
It is important to note if inventory of a certain vacation type is not
available, the icon will be displayed in gray instead of in blue.

You just have to crack up. I have no idea who Mr. Horn is. Both of these resorts are still available as exchanges. I told them that in my reply and suggested that maybe Mr. Horn knows the real story.

For me the killer is the Saturday check-ins. I need Fridays or Sundays to make a partial week worthwhile.

Anyone want to start a pool on how long it will be before RCI takes these out of exchange inventory?

I wonder if Mr. Horn is related to Madge?

Maybe just a guess or a conspiracy theory but these could be the units that evens out the numbers for the rented weeks. I recall seeing a few just before the prime summer travel season last year also.

That's interesting, I never noticed them before the last couple of weeks. It is a logical answer for what they are doing there in the first place.

I got a response to my second email today. It said:

I noted that you have received responses from two of my colleagues.
While Mr. Horn is very knowledgeable, please know that the subject of
this e-mail string is very specific, and is not subject to our
individual interpretation. any resort ID that begins with the letter
"R" is inventory which was acquired exclusively for Rental, and is not
              available for exchanges
              .

I still don't know who this Mr. Horn guy is, he never contacted me. To all you folks who have booked exchanges into these Hyatt's, it seems it was only an illusion based on the answer above.

I am a glutton for punishment. I replied again with a step by step list of what I do to see these as exchanges on the weeks side and what I do on the points side that returns nothing. I will give up after this one.

I'm convinced that RCI NEVER really reads the emails that members send with questions to be answered. In my MANY email questions to RCI, I have never received a reply that answers my question. I think RCI has "canned" answers that are used on a "pot-luck" basis. I've given up expecting an answer from RCI.

P.S. I DID book one of the Hyatt NYC units! Or was it just an illusion???

I got a reply to my last ditch effort to make them understand and guess what, they still don't believe me:

Since the Hyatts are not timeshare facilities, they should not be
available to exchange for your week. I believe if you actually tried to
hold or confirm one of those weeks for an exchange, the transaction
would not complete. It sounds like the Points Website is more accurate
                  than the Weeks.

                  I officially give up.

Wait until all those imaginary guests start showing up on their 'non-exchange' vacations!

Hey everybody, here's a big surprise

The Hyatt's are now available in RCI points at 45K per hotel unit. I posted a few of them on the ex-ops board but I got tired before I could post them all. This is great news for me. Not so great news in regards to the competence of feedback@rci.com.
