Since Silverleaf has stopped allowing pets as of July 1, 2009, here is the newest RCI list of resorts that allow pets.

Pets are always a problem in timeshares. Who knows if the next owner or exchanger is going to have a pet allergy? Some of them can be rather destructive.

The trend seems to be against allowing pets, but I think a developer could at the beginning allow a certain number of units in which pets were allowed. That would be hard to do with an existing resort, though.

I know on the OBX, two resorts that formerly allowed pets changed that policy. At Ocean Villas II, after most of the units were gutted after thoroughly redone after a hurricane, a board member who was a pet owner suggested that the membership vote again on whether to continiue to allow pets. Much to his surprise, the membership voted overwhelmingly to change the policy and ban pets. He resigned and sold his weeks, as did several other former board members who were pet owners and other pet owning members. Some of them moved a couple of miles south to Dunes South, which then allowed pets and bought there. However, after that resort kicked out an inept management company, the new board majority and management also called a vote on Dunes South's pet policy, and that also went for banning pets. So, now this group has also sold their weeks at Dunes South.
