  • Email from RCI withdrawing my deposit

This morning I got an email saying this:

As requested, the vacation time listed below has been withdrawn from the RCI system and is being returned to you for your use. This vacation time may no longer be used for a vacation exchange request. Please keep this notice for your records.

I never requested that this week be withdrawn and based on what I see online, it hasn't been withdrawn. I really hope they don't screw around with this deposit today.

Anyone else get one of these?

    What resort is it?

They're so screwed up, ay yi yi. And if you call, you have even odds of the VG messing things up even worse.

        This happened to me once

This happened to me once just after I first deposited the week. I called immediately and found out that it was due to a system idiosyncracy. They withdrew the week then immediately redeposited it to fix a detail. (Future weeks weren't showing up under the "Deposit your unit" tab". They started showing after the withdrawal/redeposit.)

        Hopefully your situation is similar.

That's not actually a good thing if it happened because it is now slightly less than 12 months from check-in and this unit was deposited nearly 24 months before the check-in date. I just noticed that for the first time this month, this deposit's trade power is now lower than the identical deposit from a year earlier:

Email feedback and ask to have it restored. They've been pretty good about fixing things like this for me (though not this specific problem.)

I had the same thing happen to me this past February on a deposit I had made the previous year in May. I called them right away and someone said I deposited a week I didn't own which was completely untrue and I had the deposit confirmation to prove it. They checked further and got back to me after a few minutes with "sorry it was our mistake" they put back the deposit which they told me would be done that night and it took 5 days before I saw my deposit back.

I know if I had not called them that same day they would have canceled the confirmed exchange as well, which would have been a disaster since this was the second week at the same resort were we had 4 units reserved for a family vacation in Florida during spring break. I doubt that they could have fixed it since I would never accept a different resort for where we already were staying the first week and family was joining us for the second week.

You need to watch them all the time and contact them immediately when something like this happens.

I did that this afternoon but I'm not holding my breath.

                  Not.

I have no hope that they will fix this. None.

Respond once via feedback, being very explicit about the pull comparisons before and after. If that doesn't work, escalate.

I spoke to a supervisor today. She understood the issue but from her perspective, the trade power of both deposits is the same even if the web numbers show they are different. My head hurts . I give up.

                        They did it AGAIN!

I got another email today. The last time it was the 2009 deposit. This time it was the 2010 deposit. How happy am I that I do not have any more deposits to give them?

I don't think I'd call. The simplest solution might be to email feedback@rci.com, telling them you asked them to do no such thing, and they should restore your entry with trading power computed as if it were deposited on the original deposit date. If you have the deposit-confirmation email, it would help to include that.

I mentioned it before, but my experience has been that feedback is more competent when dealing with these sorts of issues than your average VC.

Ok they have got to be smoking some good stuff over at Rent Condos Instead. The 2009 Aqua week is still in the account and the confirmed exchange against the 2010 week is still there.
