I clearly expect Points to undergo dis-enhancement after they "fix" weeks.

It is definitely a love/hate situation with RCI - if only they didn't have stuff I want
It's not so much love/hate for me---more a game of cat and mouse. Realistically, the money I have "invested" in timeshare is so small that I just don't get too worked up over it.

I am letting my II account lapse this summer, though. I added it only for DVC, and kept it for a couple years. For most of the other trips I want to take, RCI just plain has more inventory. Perhaps I'm simply not discriminating enough.

It does seem as though the distinction between the haves and have-nots in Weeks is getting sharper.

Update---I told you so- no refund from RCI for my remaining 4 years.

"...Upon cancellation, membership refunds are prorated based on usage computed at single year rates for remaining membership fees members have paid directly to us...."

            Tony,
You are soooooo right ! I had a few good/rare trades last year and I kind of softened up toward them and then they downgraded so much trading power.
Today I found my trade power for an Edinburgh Residence was laughable. I cannot see any DVCs or NYC.
I'm pretty sure I found my Edinburgh Residence in their rental pool.
            I'm done.

Plenty of converted motels and studios in the off season but beyond that there is a real lack of inventory. And stay by the phone for all those calls trying to shove some of the junk out to you for any request you might make. It's tons of fun.

Better yet buy what you want to use or buy into a system with plenty of locations and a good internal system that doesn't require II/RCI. NOW you have a love/love! The best of all.
LOL, you know that I am a very happy II user, it is just that RCI has what I like in certain areas....but it is becoming less and less likely I will continue to see those 'goodies'.

As u recall from the latest lawsuit, they only have to hold your unit in the exchange pool for 30 DAYS before they rent it.
What chance does anyone have in getting a good exchange anymore??

It's even worse than that. This will apply to only to weeks deposited more than a year before the check-in date. Most people cannot deposit a week until they pay the maintenance fees. So they would have to pay way ahead of time to make the deposit. And what about people who own floating time? Many cannot reserve a week more than one year in advance.

And this "benefit" to the class action members would begin in 2010 and expire two years later. Even the Federal Judge presiding over the case has a big problem with that. He kept asking why it wouldn't be made a permanent part of the exchange program.

The next court hearing will be held at the Federal Court in Trenton, NJ on Wednesday, August 12th. It is open to the public so if anyone lives nearby, please come and support the "Objectors". We won a partial victory in June.
