  • How's THIS for trading power drop-off!

I deposited a 2010 Park City summer week this morning with RCI, a week that they deem to be red. When I went online to make sure everything was OK, I discovered that my week will pull the magnificent sum of 7,779 units. All I can see is up to October 2009, nothing later.

Did I get taken or what! What a waste of a good week. I shoulda given it to an independent - live and learn...

I believe the week is still being verified. Does it have a pending sign next to it?

Even RCI isn't that stupid - I would think your week has to be verified...if it doesn't change in a few days, give them a call, it is an error.

Yes the week is listed as "pending verification" so I will wait a few days before freaking out!

Well, then I shouldn't be as upset as I have been I deposit on 7/25 and still not verified. Problem is mine is a use week for 9/20/2009. Wonder what happens if RCI never verifies it????

As recent as this past week my friendly source at RCI says there is still a lot of errors on the website, such that you can't rely on any of it.

Wherever possible, I call the resort to have them verify it with RCI. Or do the deposit, for the resorts that will. When I had a South Africa week, I used to email someone at RCI in South Africa to take care of the verification, as he was far more efficient than RCI US.

Already tried that and the management company (in Europe) says they need to hear from RCI in order to verify. They won't just make the darn deposit and of course RCI says they haven't heard back from the management company and the management company says they haven't heard from RCI. So, which one is telling the untruth?

eal, that happened to me, and I had them withdraw the deposit. I waited a couple of weeks and has a rep for RCI redeposit the week while I sat in his office (at Grand Pacific Palisades) and confirm that it pulled the correct # of potential exchanges. You could do the same thing on the phone (ie, have them verbally confirm a rational # of potential exchanges before you hang up). Even when my deposit was awaiting confirmation I saw the full # of exchanges (approx 150K). I think you are the victim of a glitch but I would withdraw now rather than assume they will make it right on their own.

I agree - while my week was pending I could see the full trading potential. I actually think that is a pretty nice feature. I would withdraw the week, unless RCI can make it right.

My freak-out was indeed premature. Yesterday my week was confirmed and the number of units available rose to 129,000, which is about what I expected from the quality of the week I deposited.

That is so strange. Sounds like some resorts act differently than others in terms of pre-clearance trading power.
