You probably missed the post on Crimeshare from a Flexiclub owner suggesting that he would like to donate his points to some deserving group like maybe a terrorist organization (in that they would deserve the hassles of the points).

Steve - you are making me very glad I know nothing of timeshare outside the US, and I don't want to except as cautionary tales. It sounds like without the far more demanding consumer laws we often complain about here just about anything goes with timeshares and scams. I hope just trading there wouldn't have all the pitfalls you've shown us with ownership. Thats all we'd ever do as I have no desire to attempt to own anything outside the US borders. We at least have a fighting chance here of getting a fair deal if we do our homework.

HGVC compared to my weeks

The true test of preference is not via survey, but via open market resale prices. In an open market, buyers have evaluated alternatives and purchased based on some knowledge of the alternatives and vote with their $$$. This is the most persuasive test of what's better.
If you take fixed weeks in systems like Fairfield and Bluegreen and compare them via eBay completed auction prices for fixed weeks converted into Points, you will see that there is a signficant uplift in purchase price for the points alternative vs. the fixed week alternative.
That means that the market is definitely seeing real value in the benefits offered by point systems.
Dito World Mark at about the same $25000 purchase cost.(resale)
My cost $4,000 total for 4 weeks.
