  • Basic RCI Depositing Question (I get Confused!)

I know I can deposit my week 2 years in advance of use date. I know I can use the week 1 year in advance and 2 years after use date (ie: trade window).

If I deposit a week 2 years in advance (or at least more than 1 year in advance) can I use that week immediately to place an ongoing reqest that does fall in the trade window? Or even an online trade that falls into the trade window?

Specifically, I have the ability to deposit a 2011 week. Can I use it to ongoing request or online snag another 2011 week? Even though I can't use the week to snag a late 2009 week...?

Thanks for clarifying this for me.

With the exchange companies that I have used, including RCI.

Your deposit with check in date of March 1, 2011. You range of exchanges is March 1, 2010 to March 1, 2013 (check in dates).

Yes, you can place a request immeditely for 2011, on that deposit, after it has been confirmed. You could also immediately confirm an exchange online if it falls within your range of exchange. (in RCI)

Thank you very much for clarifying. I thought that was the case but as I hadn't ever done it yet, wasn't positive it worked like that in actuality.

One other basic question... what the experience with depositing a week online vs. calling a rep? Which is faster? Has anyone called a rep and then conferenced in the resort to do a verbal confirmation immediately?

I always prefer online transactions because they are more accurate and therefore faster (otherwise I don't think there is a difference in speed). I doubt they will conference anyone in for you, but I so dislike speaking to RCI reps by phone unless absolutely necessary, I wouldn't even request it. Once you deposit online, you should be able to search immediately, it's called provisional or something like that. It might even be possible to confirm an exchange under a provisional category (you'd lose it if they can't get verification that you're paid up if the resort so requires.) They usually verify within a 24- or 48-hr period.
