First of all, thank you for your continuing presence on this board.

I was hoping you could shed some light on the DAE Holiday Properties. For example, when I search for resort information under Holiday Properties rather than Timeshares, I come up with the very impressive list below. Could you kindly explain how these properties became part of your inventory and how they differ from timeshares? What is the relationship between DAE and these Holidays? If I understand correctly, if one of the Holiday Properties were available, I could exchange in to it just like a regular timeshare.

Hello Northwoodsgal, hope you're well. In reply to your questions, the holiday properties listed are owned and managed by private individuals. You can certainly exchange into these properties the same as in a timeshare resort. The only difference is that the holiday properties are wholly and privately owned whereas a timeshare resort has hundreds of owners. The holiday property owners use our system the same as you do and exchange into timeshare resorts, same as you can exchange into their property. The good thing is that most of the holiday properties are situated where there are no timeshare resorts which gives our members even more destinations to choose from.

I would think having these Holiday properties in potential inventory would be a HUGE plus for DAE.

I do have another question, though. Is it ever possible for DAE to contact the Holiday owner and request a particular week? For example, if I could travel only the week of June 30th next year, and saw a few resorts that I'm interested in, can DAE call the Holiday owners to see if I could use that particular week?

Also, do the Holiday owners tend to deposit the same week each year (somewhat similar to a non-floating weeks owner would)? Or are the Holiday owners more like a hotel, where they would only deposit weeks, primarily last minute, that haven't been rented yet?

Before you request, I suggest you also check airfares to make sure that seats are available and the airfare is affordable. June is summer in the UK and its expensive.

I contacted the USA DAE office to see certain holiday owners could be contacted and received the following reply:

"I am in reciept of your request. Unfortunatley, I am unable to contact any
Europe holiday property owners because only our Europe office has access to that data base. DAE data bases are seperated by Country members are assigned according to their place of residence. Having said this what I have done in this case is send an e-mail to our Trading Partners who have access to inventory in Paris. Even though this has already been done several times before we will try it again. We never know when someone has banked there weeks. We should have a response by tomorrow. I will send you an e-mail tomorrow with any offers made to us. Please note that Paris is a prime location and at the moment we are getting more requests than inventory. "

It sounds to me like those of us in the US don't have full access to European properties. Is this correct? By the way, I haven't been requesting Paris. I'm looking for a property within a few hours drive of Paris.

Before you request, I suggest you also check airfares to make sure that seats are available and the airfare is affordable. June is summer in the UK and its expensive.

Private property owners tend to bank different weeks every year. During the summer months I would agree that they would wait to see if they can rent their properties before banking them. Having said this, it changes every year.


I contacted the USA DAE office to see certain holiday owners could be contacted and received the following reply:

"I am in reciept of your request. Unfortunatley, I am unable to contact any
Europe holiday property owners because only our Europe office has access to that data base. DAE data bases are seperated by Country members are assigned according to their place of residence. Having said this what I have done in this case is send an e-mail to our Trading Partners who have access to inventory in Paris. Even though this has already been done several times before we will try it again. We never know when someone has banked there weeks. We should have a response by tomorrow. I will send you an e-mail tomorrow with any offers made to us. Please note that Paris is a prime location and at the moment we are getting more requests than inventory. "

It sounds to me like those of us in the US don't have full access to European properties. Is this correct? By the way, I haven't been requesting Paris. I'm looking for a property within a few hours drive of Paris.

Frank, I didn't realize Marc had left DAE. I noticed the DAE chat but since we leave for France on the 20th it's too late for me. I'm getting REALLY nervous about not having a DAE place to stay starting on the 30th. I've had this request in for a long time (I'm told I'm at the top of the list) and just assumed something would come up, especially with all of the holiday properties DAE is connected to. I paid attention last summer and it seemed their country holiday properties would pop up fairly regularly. The worst part is my week expires in September and I have no other use for it. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

We can indeed get the inventory from our European offices. The inventory we list is available to all US members. What we have specific issues doing is calling the European property owners direct.

You see, we don't have European ownership contact information in the US office so while we can have our European office staff call on our behalf, we are not the ones making the direct call.

I did just speak to our sales manager and she is working diligently with our European office to help you out. Because this is transaction specific, I think your needs will be better served working directly with her as you are doing now (Alex).

As I mentioned we are talking to the UK office daily to get you the help you need. We stand by our commitment to do all we can for our members, but as always we are limited by availability.

Since my post yesterday, Alex and I have emailed each other a few times regarding my situation. " I thought it meant that no contact would be able to be made from either the US or European offices. Alex had already forwarded my request to the Europe office so they could act upon it.

Just curious, if the Europe office does find a match, would they contact me directly or contact Alex, who would then contact me?
