    Hi Mark,

Can DAE accept weeks from the Bed and Breakfast Inns? Some of the B & B are quite charming and in popular locations. I am sure some timeshare owners would love to exchange to the B&B Inns if it costs < 1 credit (1 credit for summer week and 0.5 for non-summer week). Although I tried to support DAE and not to use RCI, I do find the limited DAE inventory/locations a big problem for me.

B & B owners also have weeks they cannot rent out.
It is probably easier for DAE to contact and market to the B & B owners instead of the private holiday owners to deposit their weeks.

If you are not sure accepting the B & B week is a good idea, can you have "would you take B & B" option on the search request? When someone requests it, then you can contact the B & B in the requested area.

Hello Martin, thanks for your question. B & B's are not a bad idea, however as a timeshare owner you have the benefit of exchanging into fully self contained apartments and resorts which have many facilities etc...The B & B's provide rooms only and in most cases shared facilities such as bathrooms , kitchens etc. From experience, a timeshare owner would not accept such accommodation. I might be wrong, but have never had a request for a B & B to date.

      Marc,

I think you are correct to assume that most t/s owners wouldn't want to exchange into a B&B, but links to quality B&B systems could certainly be advantageous. For example we visited Canada for 3 weeks. The first week was spent touring before occupying our exchange t/s.
A 'one stop shop' for the exchange and other accommodation could have reduced the amount of work required.

Hello Keith, thanks for your response. I am presently looking to add a full travel service to our website which will most probably cover alternative accommodation to the timeshare. I will keep your thoughts in mind and will look into this a bit further. Thank you for your suggestions. It certainly helps us in making decisions when it comes to enhancing our services.
Please don't hesitate to email us with other suggestions you may have.
        Kind regards...marc

I have accepted hotel units as exchanges and been very happy (Anfi Palace Murren, Hilton NYC) and would LOVE b&b's as an exchange choice, especially ones w/private bath, as many of them have. (Some even have in-room mini-refrigerators - even better.) I like having a kitchen, but location would trump kitchen. I like meeting local folks running small b&b establishments, and also like meeting other guests at breakfast, and sharing our daily travel plans and information. B&b's as exchange choice is a great idea, and I hope DAE will consider it.

Hello Martin, thanks for your comment on B&B's. I'm sure some timeshare owners would accept B&B's. Your comment "would you take B&B ..." got me thinking and ran reports in our system to find out the average of members who enter requests with only two people travelling...the result was very low and the majority of requests ask for a niminum of sleep 4 & 6...I certainly like the idea and will bring it up with my partners. Thanks for the input and support. Keep them coming...Marc
