Do you have an Open Credit with Another Exchange Company?

Get credit from DAE for that deposit!
Do you have an open credit with another exchange company, but want to take a vacation to one of DAE's worldwide destinations? We'll give you credit for that deposit in our DAE system for just $199*!
DAE puts a world of vacations in your hands!
    Call 866.905.8670 now!

*Proof of outstanding credit is required and this is a call-in special only. Deposit credits will be issued and will expire 1 year after the competing credit is to expire.
The way I would interpret this is that DAE has enough 'slop' in their system that they're giving you matching credit(s) to drum up business at $199 a pop.

The way it is when you call in .....
DAE says they're 'buying' your credit from wherever it was and when they finish, you'll have credit with DAE and not the other exchange company.

    I would say that
We'll give you credit for that deposit in our DAE system for just $199*
means you'll give you a credit......

Huh? I still don't understand this.

Do you just show them proof that you've deposited a week in a competing exchange company and you don't have to deposit anything to them?
Or is it that they are going to try to get the competing exchange company to turn over the credit to them?
Maybe I'm dense but this is confusing.

      You're not dense!
When you call DAE, they say they're transferring. I called again and although they're not really clear .... I said no matter how wonderful DAE is, there is no way you have an agreement with every exchange company to transfer a 'deposit'. What you're really doing is 'giving' me a deposit just like your promotion says and you just want to 'see' that I do have a deposit with that other company. My deposit with that other company will still exist, right?? ANSWER: Technically, yes.

        Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. You are both right about our promotion. What it is in essence is that we are honoring your credit with any other exchange company for a price of 199. You still have your credit with the other exchange company, but we want to get folks to give us a try. We have had several calls from members who have told us that they want to do an exchange with us, but have already made this year's deposit with another exchange company. We wanted to come up with a program that lets those members give us a try. We came up with this promotion. We have positioned it as a credit transfer to make it easy for our members, but it looks like it is not as clear as we thought it would be!
We will honor the credit you have with the other exchange company (with proof of credit) and extend it for 1 year for 199. This 199 is then used to finance leases and other inventory purchases we make to compliment the overall exchange availability pool and to fulfill requests.

Remember, we are request specialists. What you see on our site is not necessarily reflective of what we can get for you if you request something specifically that you don't see as being currently available! So give us a call to request your vacation.

I hope this makes things a bit clearer.

        Thanks again for the inquiry!

        The DAE Team.

So for $199 in essence it's like we are paying MF's on a phantom week to DAE, and then we pay an additional exchange fee when we find something we want?

Sorry if I am not understanding this but this is how it looks to me.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Chriskre, you are not alone. I'm still not sure how this works.
For example, let's say I have deposited a week with II. Under this DAE promotion:
              1. Once I pay DAE $199, I assume that I can reserve a week in DAE inventory?
              2. Can I still use my deposit with II, or have I forfeited the week and DAE has the possession of that II deposit?

I think you are correct Chris, last year I saw a week I wanted, but had no deposits, I would have been willing to pay the two fees to get that week.

Did they give you this option last year Pat?

I guess it makes sense from a financial standpoint to just pay $199 instead of what you would have normally paid in MF's which more than likely is more than $199.
Then paying the exchange fee keeps this a cheap rental in a round about way. Not sure what DAE's exchange fee is, but I'm sure it's less than RCI and II's.
Why not just do a straight rental of the week or is there different inventory for exchange and rentals?
I'm not trying to knock the promo, just trying to make it crystal clear, which it is not at this point.
I'd love to work with the alternates more as I'm always rooting for the underdog and would love to see DAE gain traction on the big two.

Is it possible that this deposit credit exchanging happens behind the scenes between exchange companies and the front end customer never sees it, so it doesn't affect their account? Example, DAE pays RCI or II the $199 and they then turn over a week, not necessarily your week but any week so the systems stay balanced?
I'm not in the industry so not sure how it all works but would imagine that to keep inventory straight there would have to be some sort of exchange of time or services.
Probably more info than DAE wanted to disclose I am sure.
