  • Key DAE Business statistics

    Marc,

What can you tell us in terms of DAE exchange statistics in 2005?

I would be interested in know the following:

How many exchange credits were owed to customers on Dec 31, 2004

How many deposits were made in 2005.

How many exchanges were completed in 2005.

How many exchange credits owed on Dec 31, 2005.

How many exchange credits expired in 2005.

How many weeks either went unexchanged or were rented.

How many developer weeks were deposited in 2005.

How many weeks did DAE deposit by renting weeks and putting them in in 2005

I am not sure if you are willing to post this information. But, it would be very helpful to know the data. It would really illustrate the health of the exchange system.

I wish every exchange company published this data.

Hello Bocabum99, thanks for the enquiry, however the information you've requested is confidential and by posting it on the internet, I feel it would be detrimental to our business. If you would like to discuss this further, you can contact me direct thru our office.
    Kind regards...Marc

      Marc,

That's fair. We don't want to harm your business. We are having a debate about the health of the timeshare exchange business and this type of information would help to prove it one way or another. If you can't provide it, we understand.

I do think it would be helpful for ALL timeshare companies to provide this level of information to the market. Your company is the only one that publishes it's trading power formula. One week in gets one week out. And, first come first serve. So, from that stand point (amongst others like customer service), you are a leader in the industry.

If you are not comfortable releasing that information, I doubt anyone else would either.

      Thanks for responding honestly.

Hello again Boccabum, I cannot resist commenting on your response and hope that this message is passed on to other timeshare owners.
The reason timeshare is so popular and still growing in popularity is because of the flexibility of the product in having the ability to exchange to other destinations. You've paid good money for your ownership and exchange priviledge. What owners don't seem to understand or realise is that by supporting companies (who claim to be exchange facilitators), that on sell the timeshare weeks to non timeshare owners and the public at large, they are selling out of the priviledge they bought into. These companies are not exchange facilitators, they are travel clubs. They prey on the timeshare owners for stock to on sell. We need to educate owners to bank/deposit their time with the likes of DAE who keep the deposited weeks available only to timeshare owners to enjoy. Everytime a week gets on sold to the general public, it depletes the pool of available exchange weeks ordinarily made available for owners to exchange into. And owners ask why they cannot get the exchanges they want..there's the answer. I could go on and on about this topic. Unfortunately unless we do something about this, the timeshare industry will crumble and more and more owners will become dissatisfied with their ownership. Lets keep the dream alive, know who youre banking your weeks with and their policy on on-selling weeks. There is a company at the moment who has been notified of a couple of class actions against them for exactly that, on-selling their members weeks. Read about it in the "timesharing magazine".
        Regards..Marc

          Marc,

You are a good and noble businessman. I plan on depositing a week or two into DAE to try it out. Everyone I know who uses it, loves it. There are many here who share your vision of timesharing and it is a reasonable one. Good luck carrying on with your timesharing mission.

For me, I am a bird of a different feather. I support many ideas for timesharing that probably go against your core philosophy. But, I do recognize a good company when I see it. Good luck expanding into the US market. I'd like to see you give RCI and II a run for their money. Keep them honest. Good competition is just what the doctor ordered.
