  • Is there an upgrade fee? I thought Donita had said no..

    Hi all,

Just a quick question - I am working on my second trade with DAE. On the first trade I worked with Donita and she did not charge me an upgrade fee, and also told me that there were no upgrade fees at DAE.

I requested a 1BR, but they are offering me a 2BR for the regular exchange fee plus and upgrade fee of $100. Does that sound right to any of you who have used them?

    Thanks,

    Amanda

My understanding is that as of 7/1/09 there are fees to upgrade from a studio into a larger unit. However there shouldn't be upgrade fees from anything other than a studio. From DAE's website:

    New Studio Upgrade Fee
In an effort to better balance our breadth of inventory we will be implementing a new studio upgrade fee as of July 1.

At Dial An Exchange, we pride ourselves on our commitment to our customers and our simplified approach to exchanges. We are constantly looking for ways to make this process easier for you, and to ensure that you get the optimal value out of your membership. As one of our members, you should feel confident about the caliber of vacations available to you. This is why we will be implementing a studio upgrade fee, starting July 1, 2009.

Effective next month, members who deposit studios and hotel rooms will still be able to book a one, two or three bedroom unit, but will now have to pay a small upgrade fee to do so. A studio may be upgraded to a one-bedroom unit for $50, a two-bedroom upgrade for $100 or a three-bedroom upgrade for $150. As always, you will not pay anything until your exchange is made. We want all of our members to get the most value out of their membership, and one way we can facilitate this is by creating more of a balance between studios and larger units in our inventory.

What does this mean for those who already have studio deposits on file with us? If your studio deposit was made before July 1, 2009 you will not have to pay an upgrade fee. However, in order to avoid the upgrade fee, you will have to call in and speak with one of our Exchange Counselors to complete your exchange. If you book your exchange online, our online systems will automatically bill the upgrade price.

What about upgrades from one-bedroom to two-bedroom, or two- bedroom to 3-bedroom? We are not implementing upgrade fees for anything other than studios and hotel rooms to 1, 2 or 3 bedroom units.

Look for more information in your DAE July newsletter, coming soon to your email inbox! For questions, call one of our exchange counselors at 1(800) 468-1799.

Correct - upgrade fees are only from Studio deposits.

well people should not be upset - there were so many studios deposited and it really wasn;t fair - I have seen so many studios at Wyndham Branson Falls - which are really a motel room....

we wer ein a ! bd until top floor at the Falls and it was gorgeous! Cathedral ceilings. But the lockout unit next door -a studio - was very small
