  • Am I too late to deposit a 2010 week?

Hi, newbie here. We just purchased at Sheraton Desert Oasis and are awaiting all the paperwork. We are wondering if we will be too late to deposit a 2010 week by the time the transfer is done (hopefully a few weeks). I understand that the prime weeks for SFX are January through Easter, right? So I'm thinking it will be too late for this year?

You will be late for a spring break week but you can still reserve a Christmas or New Years week which should be accepted and have good trade power

Daileyad - thank you for your post. By the time your purchase closes, it may be too late to get assigned a prime-time week, which is Jan-Easter.

However... We do have a "New Member Promotion" that will qualify you for all the benefits, as if you were depositing a Prime-Time week. This will be conditional on you depositing a week from your resort any week that is during the months of October or November 2010.

For 2011 and on, to receive all the promotional incentives, it will require a deposit in Prime-Time which is January through Easter week.

We are seeing an evolution in the traveling habits of our members, as they age and their lifestyle changes. (Psychographics and demographics). Point being, at one time the demand was predominantly for prime-time. And although Prime-Time still has a very high demand, we find our Members also have a propensity to travel more, and throughout the year.

Please note, in most instances we will gladly accept deposits outside of Prime-Time, especially in the "shoulder-seasons".

If you have any further questions, I look forward to responding. Or... at any time please feel free to call Customer Service at 1-800-739-9969.

Hope this helps, and looking forward to sending you on many great vacations!

          Thanks,

Wow, that's great. So I just need to get a reservation for October or November this year and I still get to use SFX? Will I still be eligible for the bonus week (I have to deposit the larger 1 bedroom unit to earn that, right)? Thanks!

That is correct. In resort areas we only accept a one, two or three bedroom unit. (studios are only accepted in major cities, as well as larger units).

              Hope this helps,

Thanks for all the help. I'm very excited to join SFX. We've got reservations now for week 44 (October 30-Nov 6) which II showed as the highest demand week during October & November. Now I just need to learn all about SFX while I wait for our sale to close.

Yes, I already applied and was accepted. One more question, when I deposit that 2010 week that is reserved for October in maybe a month, when will it expire? I believe the bonus week will expire December 31, 2010. Do I have that right? Does the banked week expire December 31, 2011? My brain is in a fog from too much information right now so I can't quite remember how the expirations work.

Also a newbie, this may be to general of a question as I am not currently looking at a specific Resort/Location for exchange but here goes:
If a one bedroom red week ski season (Grand Timber Lodge-Breckenridge) is deposited with SFX is it possible to get a 2 bedroom exchange via SFX? That's the one thing we like with II is that we can always get a 2 bedroom on each for our lock off studio and 1 bedroom.

Okay, I've come up with more questions already:

                        1. I just wanted to clarify, Mark, that I will still be eligible for a bonus week this year under the new member promotion even though I don't have a Jan-Easter week to deposit?

                        2. If I trade my one bedroom into a resort that only has 2 bedroom units do I still have to pay the upgrade fee?

                        Thanks for all the help!

Hi Daileyad - In this instance, your exchange week will expire in October 2012. It always expires 2 years as of the check in date of the week you deposit. For example.... If we receive your deposit on March 1st, you will have from the day we receive your deposit (March 1st) and all the way through to October 2012 in which to redeem it for an exchange. (about 2 years and 7 months in this instance).

Re your Bonus Week: In this instance, your regular 2010 deposit is being made within 2010. Therefore you will have one whole year in which to use the Bonus Week. For example.... If you deposit your week around March 1st of this year, you will have until March first of next year (2011) in which to use the week.

Here is another example: If you deposit your 2011 week this year in 2010.... and let's say for example we recieve your 2011 deposit on May 5, 2010....you will have from the day we receive your deposit and all the way till 12-31-2011in which to use the Bonus Week. In this example it's about 1 year and 8 months.

                          Bottom line:

More time to use the week: If we receive next years deposit some time this year, you have from the day we receive it and up to December 31 of the following year.

Less time to use the week: If we receive your deposit within the year that the week is good for, then you have exactly one year in which to redeem it as of the date we received your deposit.

All and any incentives we offer, are designed to drive deposits from Members as far ahead as possible. This creates more space for people to be booked for their exchange sooner rather than later.

The key is to deposit your regular exchange week as far ahead as possible.

                          Hope this helps,

                          Thanks,

Hi Ellen - Thank you for your post. If you are a Gold Member (which is a Free membership), and you deposit a 1 Bedroom unit as mentioned, you can exchange for a 2 Bedroom by paying an upgrade fee of only $199 for the whole week.

However.... If you are a Platinum Member (which has a nominal membership fee with many more benefits than Gold, and lower exchange fees and other discounts) ... there is NO Upgrade Fee to pay. Your upgrade is Free.

As an SFX Platinum Member in this instance, you could deposit your 1 Bedroom unit, receive a 2 Bedroom unit for exchange, and 2 Bonus Weeks at Gold Crown or 5 Star resorts as per our Promotion which is for 2010 and 2011 deposits... And would still have your lock-off unit to either use yourself or exchange with your other exchange company.... Just a thought.

                            Hope this helps,

                            Thanks,

                              1. That is correct, as you qualify with the "New Member Offer".

                              2. As a Gold Member... technically yes. As a Platinum Member, no. I would like to point out, it is very rare to find a resort that has 2-bedroom units only.

The whole idea is, if the prospective customer at the sales-presentation cannot afford, or simply doesn't need a 2-bedroom unit... the developer needs smaller units to sell to them. The typical portfolio of a timeshare resort is: Studios / Lockoffs, 1 and 2 bedroom units.

                              Hope this helps,

                              Thanks,
