Banff?

Hi Mark
We're interested in exchanging in to Banff next Aug-Sept timeframe. I notice your Directory doesn't list any resort in Banff. However, "Canada/Banff" is on the "Desired Area" list when requesting an exchange. How can I know which Banff resorts I might get if they are not in your directory? Also, because they are not in your directory, does that mean the chances of exchanging in to that area is not as good as exchanging into other areas??

I think the only t/s resort actually in Banff is Banff Rocky Mountain Resort. Most of the others are in and around Canmore which is just outside the park.

I'm not familiar with Banff. Would it be reasonable then to expect that if I request Banff, I might be matched to timeshares in Canmore as well?

Quality Resorts in Canmore

Hi Lanalee,

I am a Calgary gal so I know these things...

The Grand Canadian, Sunset Resorts, Windtower Lodge, Crossbow Point, Mystic Springs Resort, Canmore Crossing, the Boardwalk, the Lodges at Canmore, Elkhorn at the Lodges and the Banff Gate Mountain Lodge and Spa (not to be confused with Banff Gate Mountain Resort) and all good quality resorts that SFX should be able to investigate for you. Canmore is about a 20-minute drive from downtown Banff.

The Banff Gate Mountain Resort is a few minutes east of Canmore and not as fancy as the others, you can sometimes find it on RCI's Extra Vacations.

Thanks eal! I appreciate the information. I suspect that any timeshare exchange is going to be in Canmore, it seems that most of them are located there. The fact that no resort is listed in their directory worries me. That could be a sign that SFX doesn't find many exchanges into Banff. I don't know.

The SFX resort directory

The directory that is currently on the SFX website has not been updated in years. Apparently there is a much more extensive directory in the works that is supposed to come online when the new web site is ready, so you probably won't see anything related to Canmore online with SFX for quite some time yet.

If you phone and can get a staff member she can give you the lowdown on what SFX might be able to get for you.

The Banff Rocky Mountain Resort is the only timeshare in Banff proper and it is a mediocre place to stay.

Hi Eal - I sent a you a list a few days ago with 3 that are in Canmore that are Crown rated. Nice properties.

Mark-I asked the question originally, and you sent me the note. You may have also sent Eal a note as well, I don't know. But for the benefit of others, the three resorts are in Banff, Canmore and Harvey Heights. You also stated that none of them are Gold Crown.
You didn't name the resorts though. I'd be curious to know which ones they are.

I didn't receive a note about the Banff/Canmore resorts but I am happy that Lanalee did hear from you.

The resort in Harvie Heights is the Banff Gate Mountain Lodge and Spa, rated silver crown by RCI, is qutie nice, although it is close to the highway.

More information about the other two resorts would be greatly appreciated...!
