Glad you asked this.....
Many of my ownerships float - and I can not make reservations for my 2011 winter weeks until Feb/March 2010...but the current promo with $299 bonus weeks expired 1/31/10.
My July 2011 Myrtle Beach weeks are reserved in July 2010 but I would have to wait until November (when bonus offer comes out) to deposit and get the bonus offer.
A thought would be to reward people for early deposit - say 10 months before check-in - with the $299/$499 combo and 18 months extension rather then make it calendar date specific.
Next level could be for people who deposit 8-10 months before usage date
and the final 6-8 months out from usage.
Just a thought
or maybe I am mis-reading how this all works??? -
I called the other day after the promo expiration on March 31st because I wanted to deposit my Sheraton Desert Oasis with SFX. (The new system Starwood snuck in on us at II has really annoyed me so I will no longer deposit my Starwood managed timeshares at II.) Anywho,......I received a nice bonus week(s) offer for my deposit of a prime season unit. I even extended my premium membership at SFX at the same time so I can take full advantage of my exchanges. I'm a very happy SFX member.
ps:I did pay my 2011 MF when I booked my time so there would be no excuse for Starwood to refuse my deposit at SFX. I keep wondering why the last special that asked for deposit by 1/31/10 only came out in November?
Do you release specials several times a year?
Is the one you are releasing now/today for winter weeks only?

Our general policy is to reward those who deposit early and further in advance in the higher seasons with the most benefits. All exchange companies incentivize their Members to deposit their weeks as early as possible, otherwise we run into the procrastination factor, as people are so busy they tend to put depositing on the back burner, which then reduces the amount of inventory available to book other Members in a timely manner.
The offer being launched today, will be for 2011 deposits and will run through December 2010 which allows Member to deposit weeks that run through 2011, and not just the Winter Season.
Winter Season is prime time in the Ski Resorts, Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii. So now would be the best time to make those deposits.
