An SFX Gold Membership is FREE and still very appealing to thousands of timeshare owners, as it allows them to continue paying an annual membership fee to RCI or I.I. and still have access to our services without being out of pocket with an additional membership fee, as they only pay for an exchange when confirmed.

This is like having two exchange companies working for you, for the price of just one. SFX simply gives you more options in addition to what you have for no extra money out of pocket!

Does SFX allow request first? How do you know what is available unless you can ask or see it when you a do request first?

It may be a hobby or challenge for some but not for me. I am on the phone every day and it is getting annoying. This is not with SFX so I am not annoyed with your company. I am just fed up with timesharing with a big developer (Marriott).

SFX does have request first for Platinum members but not Gold members.

A product vendor's on-line inventory is far different than a timeshare exchange company's inventory. You cannot compare the 2 businesses.

In any event, on-line searching may be fun for window shoppers but I don't think it will make much difference in being able to get the exchanges that people want.
I'm not speaking for the whole nation but like I said, I'm sure I'm not alone in my thinking. Obviously JWC you are the exception and I'm sure there are others but many of us can't plan years in advance like you can.

You obviously are either retired or self employed. Your freedom is something I wish I had but reality for me right now is that is not gonna happen anytime soon.

I truly don't understand why you are against online access for all members unless you are worried you won't have the advantage that you obviously have now to get those great trades. Mark has already said that Platinum members such as yourself will only get better benefits. You should have nothing to worry about if you get first crack at all the good stuff.
The online stuff will just be "undesireable" stuff anyway, so you wouldn't want it anyway and lose nothing. Right?

Returning again and again to the same destination or the same resort makes the unadventurous person feel secure, I guess. And some folks are simply too conservative to consider trying something new. But for some of us, window shopping is part of the fun and often results in ideas for resorts and destinations we had never considered before. I welcome SFX's decision to offer online access to inventory, even if it is the leftovers. What some consider leftover has often been a great fit for me.
        I totally agree with you.

I've got my fixed weeks that I return to again and again every year and don't trade and then I've got the stuff I play with to experience new places that I never knew I wanted to go to like Branson. (That one was for JLB). Heck I had never even heard of Branson til I got into timesharing. It's just not a place that Floridians know about. Everyone at work had no idea where Branson was when I told them I was going.

I have an expression - it is the "I didn't know that I wanted to go there but I do" phrase - after seeing Kapish's beautiful pictures here and then an II sighting - I went to Lake Tahoe and had a wonderful time.

Some of us don't know where we want to go, but are happy we took the chance and went.
Well put Pat. There should be room for both types of travellers.

Not all of us can plan years in advance. Some of us are still tied to the timeclock and don't call our own vacation shots. I for one have benefited greatly by the last minute offerings with the exchange companies and probably would with SFX if I could see what's out there.

Yes, I am retired and I was self employed prior to retiring. I don't worry about anything, least of all timesharing. Timeshares are just another vacation option that I use sometimes if it suits what we want to do. If it doesn't work out, I will just find another alternative.

Some of our trips we plan months ahead and some just a few weeks but never years ahead. Having the flexibility to do what we want means we don't need to do long range planning. Actually it is people that can only travel at certain times like school vacations that need to do long range planning. In that respect, being able to look at on-line inventory is much more beneficial to people that have the flexibility to travel whenever they want.

I will retract my earlier statement regarding limiting on-line inventory only for Platinum members. It will not affect me in any manner so go ahead and offer it to everybody. Since making that statement, it has become obvious that many people would want it so let them have it. I did not realize that so many people apparently like to window shop for timeshares.

RCI never did work out for us so I canceled our membership. II worked out OK for a few years until I wanted that particular timeshare that they couldn't deliver so I switched to SFX and let my II membership expire. SFX has worked out very well for the past 14 years but if they don't in the future then I will find another alternative. It is nothing to worry about.

I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year and may you have great travels in 2011.
