Jancpa- thank you for your post. I believe that is so, but I do know we are looking at other possible options too.
Thank you,

Wow, this Gold member and staunch, patient SFX supporter thinks that pretty harsh. Guess I can forget about posting SFX Ex-Ops. I do hope you reconsider.

Hi Glitter... not quite sure I understand you post. Please clarify.

I would also like to see online search capacity for all members - not just Platinum and Diamond.
Mark, we have a very active "sightings board" where our members post "exchange opportunities" that they find by searching online at RCI/II/Redweek/DAE/TPI/Platinum Interchange - we share the 'good stuff' with other members of the board who then go to the website and make an exchange based on what they saw here.
If you restrict online access to Platinum and Diamond members, many people will not be able to search online.
We LIKE to search online - REALLY like it
Another positive I just found today on the new website - when you click on "exchange request" you get a drop down menu of all your deposits and expiration dates AND your outstanding bonus week with the associated cost as well - $399 Bonusweek (expires 8/25/11)
I disagree with Gold members getting the same options as Platinum, etc. If they want the same options, then they can upgrade their membership. There have to be incentives to become a Platinum member. Why should somebody with a free membership expect the same treatment as a paying member.

They wouldn't.
Obviously Platinum members have preference and what is viewable on-line would only be intervals that have not matched an on-going request. On-going requests would, I assume, be matched by membership level and deposit desireability leaving the leftovers for on-line searching.
I, for one, think this is a good thing for SFX because it will entice people to join and deposit acceptable weeks. It allows people to get a "feel" for what might be available to them. That would not be the case if on-line searching was held to platinum or even platinum and gold members.

I really don't believe that on-line searching is really going to help much unless you are looking for low demand weeks. Any good weeks will never make it on-line because they will have already gone to people having requests. In fact, I believe Mark has said that many times in the past. All the good stuff will not go into inventory. All you will see are weeks that there isn't much demand for.

Their recent sell off lists say differently.
As a Platinum member it will have little or no effect on how you do business with SFX. I think it is a good oppportunity for growth in a time when many are re-evaluating memberships with RCI.

I have no skin in the game, because I don't (currently) use SFX much. But, web sites costs money, and online access to exchange inventory costs money too. The more people who use it, the more money it costs---not just in processor cycles and bandwidth, but (and this is a *big* but) spending money to pay system architects to design something that can scale to a lot of people simultaneously.
I can understand why SFX might want to try to recoup some of that investment and ongoing operational cost by limiting access to paid members. Whether open access would attract enough new exchange traffic to offset the extra cost is a business decision.

Just how do the sell off lists prove anything? They are nothing more than the weeks left over that nobody wanted. You would see these same weeks on-line because nobody had requested them.
Platinum members were paying for AND receiving more benefits than Gold members were even before on-line search became a topic. If the objective of SFX is to increase traffic in total, I don't see the harm in allowing search capabilty to all levels of membership.

Just because nobody requested them doesn't mean that they aren't desirable weeks. I've seen some nice stuff on the sell-off list but because I don't frequent the site often enough I don't see them. I'm more used to using the online ones that I can search, so SFX truly doesn't get the business that it could if it would put on display some of it's wares.
To me not having search capability is like going into a store where the shelves are empty. I'm sure they can special order you something but there is just something to be said for window shopping and impulse buying.
We Americans love instant gratification and online booking provides that nicely.

I agree with John. My first 5 years of platinum membership is expiring and I'm about to re-up.
