  • SFX Limited Midwest Exchange Availability

We have been debating about giving SFX a try but at this time don't see how we can. We live in the mid-west (Chicago) area. We have small children. Therefore, we prefer to be able to drive to our vacation spot and have to work around school. I see no resorts in MN, WI, IL, IN, MI. Will SFX ever expand into this market?

Also, is Disney Hilton Head an SFX resort? I didn't see it listed in the resort directory.

Ellen - thank you kindly for your post. Although we haven't (yet) listed any of those regions in our directory, we do get a small percentage of requests for those regions, and through our network of alliances book members for their exchanges.

Although we don't have a substantial demand for those areas, there is still a demand by owners who do want a family "drive-to" regional vacation. It is unjustifiably expensive for many families (with kids) to go to the expense of airfare plus all other expenses for their vacation, and a "drive-to" is the answer.

With regards to Disney Hilton Head... We have a number of Disney Members, however we try to encourage our Members to keep all quality resort options open, and try not to focus on one major brand such as Disney, and even more so when kids are out from school when the Demand far Exceeds supply of exchange space.

Disney Resorts can be very difficult to exchange into, because those who buy the Disney product, do so for the famous brand vacation experience and to use it themselves rather than trade out for their exchange. Keep in mind, most space is created not by exchange companies, but by Owners trading out and depositing their weeks for other to trade in.

Our goal is to get Members on great vacations, and for that to happen, we do all possible to encourage "Flexibility" when possible.

    Hope this helps...

    Thanks,

SFX was kind enough one time to offer us Christmas Mountain in the Wisconsin Dells - the dates were not the requested ones, but they called just to see if it would work out for us, which I really appreciated. Just to let you know, that, indeed, they do come up occasionally and they tried their best.

We joined SFX about a year ago. We have to deposits we have made with them but so far they have been unable to satisfy our needs. They have tried now a few times and it does seem that they go that extra step. We live on the West Coast (Calif.) but our daughter is in Georgia with our grandaughter so we try to find areas around there for a few weeks. Our biggest problem is to tie in what SFX has along with what we have in RCI. We own 4 weeks so try to keep our options open somewhat. We also get 5 vacation weeks from work but have to put in the exact weeks by the end of each February. It does take consistant calling and balancing things out.
        Good luck,
        Bart

Thanks for sharing, one of the positives I have read with SFX is their customer service/response.
