  • Questions about priority

    Hi Mark,

I understand the basics of how SFX works but have a few questions about priority for desposits, bonus weeks and extended deposits among gold members, platinum and diamond members.

For 100% simplicity sake I will compare 2 deposits from the same resort for the same week. Sheraton Broadway Plantation 4th of July week.

Situation 1. A gold and a platinum member both deposit a 2 bedroom unit on the same day and request the same week in San Francisco on the same day. I would assume the platinum member gets the 1st match. If the gold member deposited a 2 bedroom and the platinum deposited a 1 bedroom would the platinum member still be ahead in line to get the match?

Situation 2 The platinum member already got their exchange but requested a 2nd week as their bonus week. Would the platinum member's bonus week trump the gold members initial exchange request? Basically does the bonus week have the exact same priority as an initial exchange or is it less?

Situation 3 If a week is extended through a subsequent deposit, does the extended week lose trading power or is it view the same as it was before it would have expired?

Thanks in advance for the explinations.

Sally - Thank you for your post. Good questons. Would have replied yesterday, but the site was down.

Situation 1: Trading power for your exchange has absolutely nothing to do with the level of membership you have. Platinun and Diamond Rewards Members have more benefits, but not more trading power.

In situation 1, where the resort, unit size and dates are equal... and there is only one week in SF available.... the unit would go to the Member who placed the request first. Although they requested SF on the same day, one would have placed the request before the other Member.

In Situation 1... regardless of Membership level, if a member deposited a 2BR unit, their trading power would be higher than the person depositing a 1BR, thus the 2BR depositor would have received the match (based on TP, not membership level).

Situation 2: When a Member deposits a week, an exchange company has a liability to that Member to offer an acceptable week back in exchange. And that liability must take precedence over items that are a promotional bonus. Simply put... inventory is prioritized for those to whom an exchange is owed first. Bonus Weeks can be requested in the same manner as an exchange week, but they are subordinate to those who are owed an exchange. If it were the other way round, then there would be no itegrity to the system.

Situation 3: If a week is extended, it maintains it's original trading power.

      Hope this helps...

      Thanks,
      Mark @sfx
