  • Depositing question

    Hello,

I've not yet joined SFX (but I plan to when the promo starts next week).

I own HGVC (Hilton Grand Vacations). The question I have:

Do I have to deposit a Hilton week (or weeks)
    OR
Can I use my HGVC to book an RCI week and then deposit that RCI week?

    Thank you

Hi Kevin - Thank you for your post. You can only deposit a unit with SFX where you own at.

If you deposit your week with RCI, you would not be able to re-deposit that week with another exchange company, and would have to use your week for an RCI exchange.

    Depositing is very easy...

    1. Book a weeks worth of points in at least a one bedroom suite at your resort.

*** Keep in mind, you will have much higher Trading-Power and promo benefits if you deposit a week that is in Prime Time. Here is a link showing locations and Prime-Time: SEASON GRID.

    2. Then login to your SFX account at www.sfx-resorts.com and click the Deposit button on the left and follow steps.

Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, I will be delighted to respond online, or we welcome you to call Member Services at 800.739.9969.

    Thanks,

      Kevin,

It is pretty easy. There are a few annoying quirks with HGVC, but as a fellow HGVC owner using SFX, if you need any assistance with HGVC let me know and I will try and point you in the right direction.

        Thanks everyone who responded.

Do I also read the "grid" correctly?

        Meaning:

If I want to exchange INTO an SFX resort during "prime", I have to deposit an HGVC resort that's also in Prime demand?

And, can I deposit ANY HGVC resort week that I can book?

Or can I only deposit "home resort"? (As you're a Hilton member, you know the difference).

        Thanks!

Generally speaking, yes, you would need to deposit either a High or Prime week fro HGVC. There are a few exceptions to this rule however,

First off, the calender for SFX and the one for HGVC do not always overlap Prime for Prime or High for High. You need to look at the date ranges specifically and compare them to the resort you wish to deposit. This year especially is a bit of a fluke as Thanksgiving week just happens to fall into a silver/gold slot this year due to there being an extra week this year.

As for the question of does it have to be a home week, if you reserve and deposit a specific home week (your home resort, during your time period, booked as a home week) then it makes the deposit process very easy with SFX. You can however "deposit" any week you want so long as SFX will accept it and any of the HGVC resorts. If you chose not to do a Home Week, you would just need to have HGVC issue a Guest Certificate for your week and SFX would let you know who to put on the Guest Certificate when they get someone whom wants the week. It really is pretty easy, I have done it several times.

Hope that all helps, let me know if you have more questions.

One last thing I forgot to mention. Sometimes they have specific requests from their members already in queue, and unless something has changed they will happily take a deposit for something on request regardless of season. I usually try to be nice and see if they have specific needs prior to deciding what to deposit.

              Awesome thank you

So if SFX Prime week for Cancun is say:

              Jan 1-April 30

does that mean if I book an HGVC from those dates, I have deposited a "prime week"?

(You mentioned the calendar thing between HGVC and SFX)

                Not exactly..

Lets say you want to Deposit Thanksgiving Week at one of the Orlando HGVC Resorts. That week is considered Prime for SFX as it is a holiday week, but if you check the HGVC charts for that time frame, you will see that week this year is either Silver or Gold depending on which resort you chose.

In other instances you will find that the date range say SFX considers Prime in Las Vegas, might be a mix of Platinum and Gold weeks on the HGVC calender, in which case you might be able to save a few HGVC points and still deposit what is considered a Prime week for SFX.

Does that make a little more sense?

Hurnik - Thank you for your post. And PortableTech, thank you for your input. Both appreciated.

Hurnik... The way I would describe it, is like this... For the week that you would like to deposit; HGVC would prefer you deposit a week that is at your Home Resort (which is where you purchased and own).

SFX would like you deposit a week in Prime Time at your home resort (according to the SFX grid of Supply vs Demand). Here is the Season Chart . Then go to the area where you own at, and note the months of Prime Time.

Then call HGVC reservations and book a weeks (7 nights) worth of points within the Prime Time season, in at least a 1 bedroom unit. It can be any week during that season. They will give you the dates and a reservation number. (You now have a week to deposit with SFX).

Next... Login at www.sfx-resorts.com, then click the Deposit a week link on the left, and follow the steps.

At this point you have deposited a Prime Time week. This means you can request an exchange for Prime Time or High Time anywhere in the system.

It may sound complicated at first, but after a couple of times (like most things) it's easy!

1: Reserve a week at your resort.
2: Deposit it into your SFX online account.
3: Place a request and take a vacation.

                  Hope this helps...

                    Thanks Mark.

That makes sense. Doesn't sound terribly difficult. Typically Hilton considers a "home week" reservation such as this:

Let's say you own a 2 bedroom, 7,000 point unit. If you reserve "home week" Hilton takes ALL 7,000 points and you get a 2-bedroom for 1 week.

However, if you reserve a "regular" week (even at your "home resort), a 2 bedroom may only cost you 4,800 points.

The main diff. is that "home resort weeks" can be booked 12 months out, whereas regular can only be booked 9 months out.

And the major difference in points.

One more question for Mark (I'll have to call SFX soon):

If I want to get INTO (ie, EXCHANGE into) an SFX resort, 2 bedroom unit, I ASSUME I have to deposit a 2 bedroom unit?

Or could I "take advantage" of my $500 vacation card thingy and get an upgrade?

Or is that too "iffy" (like there's no guarantees I'd be able to upgrade)?

Basically I'm looking to get into Grand Luxxe in Riviera Maya (I noticed that Riveria Maya doesn't have a Prime season????) in 2013 (I know, a bit out, but hey, that gives me lots of time)

Your ability to request a week X months out depends on your membership level. With the Diamond level, you can request 24 months before. Platinum, 18 months and gold 12 months. So even if you deposit a 2013 week, if you're a gold member, you can only request 12 months before.
